 MAYSVILLE Lorene Watson Vice, 96, of Maysville, passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at The Maysville Nursing Rehabilitation Facility.  She was the widow of Merrell M. Vice who died on Feb. 25, 2005.  They had been married for 66 years.

 Mrs. Vice was born on July 31, 1920, in the Sardis community of Mason Co., KY, to the late Orville Lee and Betty Frodge Watson.

 She was a homemaker and a member of the Victory Christian Center.  She also attended the Washington United Methodist Church in her later years when she made her home with her oldest daughter, Betty Orme.  She enjoyed writing poetry, quilting, sewing, doing genealogy research, planning and attending family reunions and participating in other family traditions.  She was a graduate of May’s Lick High School and for many years she and her husband, Merrell, lived in the May’s Lick community where they raised their family, were active in community affairs and attended the May’s Lick Christian Church.  In their retirement years, they moved to the Elizaville community in Fleming County and then later moved to Maysville to be closer to their children.

 She was preceded in death by a son, Allan Owens Vice in 2004, a brother, Orville Lee Watson, Jr. in 1993, a grand- daughter, Kassandra Jane Ross in 1993, and a step great grand- daughter, Kristen Kate Vice in 1986.

 

She is survived by three daughters, Betty Jane (Gerald) Orme, Patricia Lee (Mike) Ashcraft, Anita Paige (Wayne) Ross, a daughter-in-law, Helen Vice all of Maysville, KY and a brother-in-law, Emery Vice who recently moved to Chapel Hill, NC.  She also leaves fourteen grand- children;  twenty great grand- children;  four great great- grand children;  many nieces and nephews; and an ex-daughter-in-law, Donna Workman.

Services to celebrate the life of Lorene Watson Vice will be held at 3 P.M. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, at the Washington United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Beck officiating.  Graveside rites for family and friends will be on Friday, Dec. 23, 2016, at 11 A.M. in the May’s Lick Cemetery.

 Visitation will be at the church from 1 P.M. until the time of the service on Thursday.  Pallbearers will be her grandsons – Jimmy Vice, David Orme, Chris Orme, Jon Ross, Joe Ross, Harley DeVaughn and Trevor Fitzwater.
