MAYS LICK Oleta Christine Fryman Mitchell, best known as “Granny” 89, of Maysville passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Mrs. Mitchell was born in Nicholas County on October 21, 1928 daughter of the late A.T. and Blanche Tucker Fryman. She was a member of Sardis Christian Church and in later years attended May’s Lick Christian Church. Oleta was a longtime member of the Mason County Homemakers. She enjoyed her time working as a tour guide in Old Washington and was an avid fan of U.K. Basketball and Cincinnati Reds baseball. Survivors include one son, Gary Wayne (Joyce) Mitchell of Martin, KY; a daughter, Barbara (Dale) Mitchell of Lexington; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; four sisters, Elizabeth Ford, Martha Elliott; Betty Kielman and Vivian Robinson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis R. Mitchell on October 13, 2012 and three sons Roger Dale Mitchell, Tommy Mitchell, Donnie Mitchell; and two brothers Elwood Fryman and Ollie J. Fryman; and a sister Ruth Laypoole. Services will be conducted at 12 Noon Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Palmer Funeral Home & Crematory in May’s Lick with Bro. Tim Lorenz officiating.
