BETTY DILLON CRACRAFT, 78, of Sardis passed away Friday at her home.  She and her late husband Jack Cracraft operated Cracraft's Grocery in Sardis for many years.  Betty was born at Slip-Up on February 15, 1932 daughter of the late James & Lottie Bratton Dillon.  She was a member of the Sardis United Methodist Church and a Maysville Bulldog fan.  Survivors include 4 children,  Dale (Tona) Cracraft of Maysville, Gene Cracraft, Jennifer (Terry) Doyle and Rodney (Raejean) Cracraft all of Sardis.  7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren also survive.   She was preceded in death by a daughter Pamela Jane Luman and 3 brothers, Lemuel Dillon, Orville "Dash" Dillon and Robert "Bob" Dillon.  Services will be conducted at 1 P.M. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010 with Rev. John R. Dodson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Shannon Cemetery.  Visitation 11 A.M. Tuesday prior to the service.  Betty requested no flowers be sent and memorial contributions are suggested to Sardis United Methodist Church or Maysville Community Lighthouse Church.





ROGER W. DOTSON, 66, of the Lewisburg Community passed away Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010 at his home.    He was retired from Emerson Power Transmission and an Army Veteran.  He was born in Mason County on November 3, 1943 son of the late Herbert T. & Shirley Ross Dotson.  He was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church and attended Foxport Baptist Church.  Survivors include his wife of 43 years Connie Muse Dotson.  3 nieces , Cindy Dale, Danielle Beckett, Crystal Muse.  2 nephews Mike Dotson of Robertson County and Allen Dotson of Bracken County.  He was preceded in death by a brother Marvin Dotson.  Services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday, Feb. 21, 2010 at Palmer Funeral Home in May's Lick with Rev. Larry Manning and Rev. Carl Hall officiating.  Interment will follow in the Shannon Cemetery.  Visitation 6-9 P.M. DAVID A. "SNOOTER" BURNS, 48, of Louisville passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, February 16, 2010 in Louisville.  He was an 18 year employee of Dairy Queen in Louisville and had never missed a day's work.  He was a native of Maysville and was a 1980 graduate of Maysville High School.  He was a member of the Church of the Rock.  Survivors include his mother Norma Burns Ramsey of May's Lick and 12 brothers and 4 sister and numerous other relatives and friends.  Services will be conducted Monday, February 21, 2010 at Second Baptist Church in May's Lick with Rev. Rodney Bennett officiating.  Interment will follow in the May's Lick Cemetery.  Visitation 11 A.M. Monday at the church.  Palmer Funeral Home in May's Lick is serving the family.
 

DANNY L. JONES, 57, of Taylor Mill Rd. Maysville passed away unexpectly Monday, Feb. 15, 2010 at his home.  He was a dedicated farmer and livestock producer and machinery operator for H.G. Mays Construction.  He was preceded in death by his wife Sherri Lynn Prather Jones on July 22, 2003.  He was the son of Eugene & Dorothy Lett Jones of Mason County.  Survivors other than his parents are a daughter Alison (Greg) Hazelrigg of Fleming Co. and  a fiance' Leslie Sapp Gifford.  A granddaughter Macie Lynn Hazelrigg and a brother Mike (Brenda) Jones of Fleming County and a nephew Matt (Jill) Jones and a great niece Aubrey Jones.  Services will be conducted at 1 P.M. Saturday at Shannon United Methodist Church with Rev. JANE FINN, 85, of the Minerva Community passed away Monday at the Fleming County Hospital.  She was a retired teacher at Lewisburg High School and later Minerva School.  She wa later a social worker for the State of Kentucky.  She was awarded the title "Lady of the Year" in 1997 by Beta Sigma Phi and was a life member of Minerva United Methodist Church.  She was the widow of Paul Joseph Finn.  Survivors include a son F.J. "Bear" Finn and wife Dawn of Minerva and three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a brother Walter "Ras" Williams.  Services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Friday, February 19, 2010 at Minerva United Methodist Church in Minerva.  Interment will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery Germantown.  Visitation 4-8 P.M. CLAUDE MOORE, JR.  "HOP",  73. of Sardis passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010 at Robertson County Health Care Facility in Mt. Olivet where he was a resident.  He was a former employee of the Home Tobacco Warehouse in Maysville and a member of the Sardis Christian Church.  He was born in Sardis on October 20, 1936 son of the late Claude & Goldie Wheeler Moore.  Survivors include a cousin Donna Burke Molden of Lexington and several caregivers and friends.  Services will be conducted at 1 P.M. Monday, Feb. 8th  at Palmer Funeral Home in May's Lick with Bro. Doug Wright officiating.  Interment will follow in the Shannon Cemetery.  Visitation one hour prior to the service on Feb. 8th.

 

 CONNIE SUE HAY, 55, of Maysville passed away on Friday, January 22, 2010 at Meadowview Regional Medical Center.  She was born in Maysville on May 31, 1954 daughter of Albert Douglas  & Jeanetta Campbell Hay of Maysville.   Connie was a former Nurse’s Aid at Hayswood Hospital, and was previously employed at the Kentucky Department of Parole and Probation in Louisville, KY.  She was a member of the Maysville Church of the Nazarene and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

        In addition to her parents she is also survived by her son; Brian Christopher Hay of Maysville, two brothers; Donald Hay of Orangeburg, and Robert Hay of Cleveland, OH, and two sisters; Alberta Powell of Maysville, and Nancy Jiminson of Russellville, OH, and several nieces and nephews.

        Memorial Services will be conducted at Noon on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Palmer Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends after 11 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. 

 

       


Darrell Eugene Ward, 87, died Monday morning, January 11, 2010, after a long illness at his home near May's Lick.  He was born at Narrows, Kentucky, near Leitchfield, on November 27, 1922.  He was the son of Noah Ward, a WWI veteran, and Laura Alma Gaither Ward.  He was an honor graduate of Hartford High School and enrolled at the University of Kentucky in the fall of 1940.  He was a veteran, serving more than three years as a meteorologist in the Army Air Corps during World War II, stationed at air bases in England and Iceland.

 

He returned to U.K. after the war and graduated with a B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering in May, 1947.  He married Mary Gordon Gillespie, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. J. E. Gillespie of May's Lick.  After graduation he worked at the Esso oil refinery in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and completed his graduate course work at L.S.U.  In 1958 he accepted a position as an Architectural Mechanical Engineer at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, where he helped guide a major expansion of campus facilities.  In 1970 he moved to Springfield, Illinois to help develop plans for the new Sangamon State University, now a part of the University of Illinois.

 

Wishing to return to Kentucky, he then moved to Richmond, Kentucky, to accept a position as Associate Director of Buildings and Grounds at Eastern Kentucky University.  He retired in 1987 and moved to a country home on the Gillespie family farm in May's Lick.

 

Darrell was a licensed Professional Engineer in three states, and a Life Member of the A.S.M.E., A.S.H.R.A.E., and the N.R.A., and a member of the Hartford Christian Church.

 

Darrell was an active man with many hobbies.  Earlier in life he enjoyed running and TaeKwon-Do.  He was an expert marksman and enjoyed target shooting.  He planted many fruit trees at his home, and loved to walk and care for his dogs.

 

He was proceeded in death by his parents, his sister Ruddell Cooper, and two brothers, Cecil and C. Earl Ward.  He is survived by his wife of 62 years and his four sons, Darrell T. and Jim (Lynn) Ward of May's Lick, John G. (Carol) of Oak Ridge, TN, and Dr. Robert J. (Danita) Ward of Statesville, NC, six beloved grandchildren: Madeline, Andrew, Joseph Ward (May's Lick), Laura Ward (Knoxville, TN), Rachel (Nick) Vigneaux (Greensboro, NC), Aaron Ward (Wilmington, NC), two great-granchildren, Isaac and Isabella Vigneaux, and two step-grandsons, Spencer and John Morrow, of North Carolina.  He leaves a sister and brother, Lucille Davis and J. Russell Ward, both of Beaver Dam, Kentucky, and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Cropper, of Maysville.

 

Graveside services will be conducted at the May's Lick Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on  Thursday, January 14.  Arrangements by Palmer Funeral Home, May's Lick.  There will be no visitation.  Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Buffalo Trace, P.O. Box 758, Maysville, KY 41056.



LIBBY RUDY, 48, of KY 596 May's Lick passed away Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Meadowview Regional Medical Center.  She was a former employee of Johnson Controls and a farmer.  Libby was born in Maysville on May 4, 1961 daughter of Ronny & Erma Huddleston Rudy.  She was a member of the May's Lick Lighthouse and Sardis Assembly of God Churches.  Surviving other than her parents are a sister Connie (Bro. Danny) Howard and 2 nephews, Chad and Chucky Howard and a special relative Robyn Linville.  She was preceded in death by a brother Chris Rudy.  Services will be conducted at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday , Jan. 6, 2010 at May's Lick Lighthouse Church with Bro. Danny Howard officiating.  Interment will follow in the Shannon Cemetery.  Visitation 6-9 P.M. JOHN W. McNEILL III,  68, a wellknown Maysville attorney and former circuit judge passed away unexpectedly Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Meadowview Regional Medical Center.  He was a graduate of Centre College and the University of Virginia where he received his law degree in 1966.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Vietnam War and served on various boards and commitees and was a active member of his community. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife Stephanie "Stevie" Vernon McNeill.  2 children,  Andrew V. McNeill and Laura  Clay McNeill of Louisville.  1 grandchild Hannah Clay McNeill.  1 brother William Clarke (Sallie) McNeill of Maysville and 2 sisters, Kathryn McNeill (Gary) Muse of Lexington and Mary McNeill (Robert) Muse of Maysville.  He was preceded in death by a son Wynn Rossiter McNeill.  Memorial services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Tuesday,  January 5, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church in Maysville with Rev. Doug Gerdts and Rev. Rene Whitaker officiating.   Family will receive friends from 5-8 P.M. DAVID J. GIBBONS, 84, of Raymond Road, May's Lick passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at his residence.  He was a farmer and a 29 year director of Farmer Mutual Insurance Company of Mason County.  He was a past president of Kentucky Mutual & Cooperative Fire Insurance Association and a former manager of Montgomery Ward.  He was a Navy Veteran of WW  II and a native of Kansas City, MO.  Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Wava Heminger Lowe Gibbons.  A step son Frank (Millie) Lowe of Maysville and 3 step grandchildren, Julie Lowe Owens, Troy Lowe and Kim Lowe Garrison.  2 brothers Bernham "Bernie" Gibbons of Kansas City, MO and Sanford Gibbons of Phoenix, AR.  He was preceded in death by a step son Donnie Lowe and a brother Thomas Gibbons.  Services Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Palmer Funeral Home in May's Lick with Brother Lyndon Eberly officiating.  Interment will follow in the May's Lick Cemetery.  Visitation 9 A.M. PATSY CRAWFORD GODDARD, 74, of Sardis passed away Sunday, December 13, 2009 at Maysville Nursing & Rehab Facility.  She formerly operated Goddard's Mini Nursing Home in Sardis for several years and was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church.  She was the widow of Gordon Goddard whose death occurred on April 5, 1988.  Survivors include 5 children, Judy (Wendell) Earls of Flemingsburg; Owen (Rita) Goddard of Mt. Olivet; Regenea (Craig) Rhonemus of May's Lick; Mark Goddard of Sardis and Lisa (David Paul) Mason of Lewisburg.  6 grandchildren, Eric Earls, Joshua Goddard, Adam & Tony Rhonemus, Chasity Smith and Savanna Mason.  3 great grandchildren also survive.  Services will be conducted at 1 P.M. Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Palmer Funeral Home with Bro. John R. Dodson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Shannon Cemetery.  Visitation 5-8 P.M. Tues. TILLIE WORTHINGTON CRAWFORD, 96, passed away on December 12, 2009 in Georgetown, TX.  She was a longtime resident of the Clift Pike in May's Lick and the widow of Robert Yates Crawford a former Supervisor of Sales on the Maysville Tobacco Market.  Survivors include her son James Yates Crawford of Flemingsburg and a daughter Lillian Black of Georgetown, TX.  16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren also survive.  She was preceded in death by a daughter Betty Lou Wright.  Graveside Services will be conducted at 10. A.M. Wednesday December 16, 2009 in the May's Lick Cemetery  Interment will follow.  Arrangements by Palmer Funeral Home.


EMMA  C.  FRENCH, 80, of Dunedin, Florida passed away December 7, 2009.  She was a native of Kentucky and was the daughter of William Hobart & Dovetta Kilgore Hay.  She was a retired C.P.A. and a member of the Baptist faith.  Services were conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, December 12, 2009 at May's Lick Cemetery with Rev. David C. Cheek officiating.  Interment followed.  Palmer Funeral Home cared for the arrangements.



WILSON GLENN COLLINS, 62, of Maysville husband of  Jane Pyles Collins died Monday, November 2, 2009.  Survivors include his wife of 42 years Jane Pyles Collins.  3 sons, James Wilson (Lisa), Daniel Glenn (Leslie), John Michael (Elaine) all of Maysville and 1 daughter, Elizabeth Jane "Libby" Collins of Lexington.  4 grandchildren, James Brett, Kaitlyn Elizabeth, Jared Matthew and Abby Nicole Collins.  1 sister Betty Hornback of Lexington.  Glenn was born in Mason County on July 9, 1940 son of the late William W. & Nellie Frederick Collins.  He was also preceded in death by his father and mother-in-laws James L. & Mary Elizabeth Hutton Pyles.  He was a retired educator and was employed as a Vocational Agriculture  Teacher at Nicholas County High School.    At UK he wrote teaching materials for Agricultural Programs and at Morehead Vocational Education Regional Office as a Curriculum Coordinator.  He was a Guidance Counselor and then served as Principle of the Maysville Vocational School when he retired in 1991.  He was a cattle and tobacco farmer.  Mr. Collins was a 1958 Valedictorian of Minerva High School and a graduate of UK with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.  He was a member of May's Lick Christian Church wher he served as a deacon & elder.  He was treasurer of Mason County DHIA and a member of the Mason County Historical Society.  Services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Friday, November 6, 2009 at May's Lick Christian Church.  Interment will follow in the Shannon Cemetery.  Visitation 4-7 P.M. Thursday. DONNIE PRICE, 65, of Lexington passed away on Monday, October 26, 2009 in Lexington.  He was a master carpenter and employeed by Burchfield & Thomas for 22 years and was an avid outdoorsman.  Survivors include his wife Bonnie Price and a daughter Starla (Dean) Eichorn of Lexington and his mother-in-law Edith Fulton of Sardis.  Memorial services will be 5 P.M. Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Palmer Funeral Home with Dr. Michael Rice officiating.  Family will receive friends from 2-5 P.M. NANCY BURNS GIFFORD, 62, of Sardis went to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 1, 2009 surrounded by her family.  She was a beautician and entrepreneur and was a graduate of Mason County High School and Hager Beauty School.  Nancy owned Nancy's Beauty Shop in Sardis and was a former co-owner of the House of Beauty in Maysville.  She was formerly Apt. Manager of Winterwood Apts. in Flemingsburg.  She was born in Mason County on November 23, 1946 daughter of the late Lee & June Cracraft Burns.  She was a dedicated member of Sardis United Methodist Church and the Sardis community.  She was instrumental in forming the Sardis Bicentennial in 1976 and the annual Harvest Festival in Sardis for many years.  She compiled a book in 1976 "Sardis A Quaint Little Town in Kentucky".  Survivors include her husband of 40 years Johnny E. Gifford.  2 sons, Jason (Missy) Gifford of Maysville and Zane Gifford of Houston, TX. 3 grandchildren, Ashley, Brittney and Johnathon Gifford.  2 sisters Nellie (Phillip) Adamson of Robertson County and Rhonda Six of Sardis.  A brother Ronnie (Susie) Burns of Sardis.  A brother-in-law Ricky Six and a sister and brother-in-law Ninette & Randy Gaither and father-in-law Elwood Gifford.  She was preceded in death by a nephew Parker Six and mother-in-law Nina Rose Gifford and Ruth Adamson Burns second wife of Lee Burns.  Services will be conducted at 11 A.M. BONNIE  A.  JETT, 40, of Flemingsburg and a well-known social worker at Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville passed away Sunday, October 18, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ft. Thomas.  She was born in Maysville on June 6, 1969 daughter of Mary Linville Jett of Flemingsburg and the late Charles W. Jett.  She was a graduate of Mason County High School and Morehead State University.  She was active in community activites including the Relay For Life.  Survivors other than her mother are 4 brothers, John (Sandra) Jett of Mason Co.; Charles L. (Mary K.) Jett of Hardin Co.; Robert (Donna) Jett of Bracken Co.; Timothy (Paula) Jett of Bath Co. and a sister Kathy Malone of Flemingsburg.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Jett.  Services will be conducted at 2 P.M. ELIZABETH M. "BETTY" DOTSON, 84, of Maysville passed away Thursday, October 8, 2009 at Nicholas County Hospital in Carlisle.  She was the widow of Kenneth O. Dotson who died on Sept. 12, 1984.  She was born in Moretown, Vermont on May 27, 1925 daughter of the late Burton Thomas & Nora Belle Spooner Shepherd.  She was a member of May's Lick  Christian Church and served as Sunday School Teacher, Elder and Deacon.  Survivors include 4 children, Jeanine Gallagher of Mt. Olivet, Gary (Rita) Dotson of Kissimmee, FL;  Bradley (Kathy) Dotson  and Cynthia (Jeff) Thomas both of Mason Co. 12 grandchildren 14 great grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  1 brother Gary Shepherd of Burlington, VT and a sister Patricia Chadwick of Sutton, NH.  She was preceded in death by 2 children, Michael James & Gregory B. WILLIAM E. "BILL"  COLLINS, 69,of Vanceburg and formerly of Mason County passed away September 23, 2009 in Paris.  He was an employee of Stevens Trucking and a former Farmer and Supervisor of Sales of the Maysville Tobacco Market and Laurel Oaks Golf Club.  He was born June 9, 1940 the son of the late George William & Tressa Deitz Collins. He was a member of May's Lick Christian Church and former member of May's Lick VFD and the Limestone Family YMCA.  He was an avid golfer & U.K. Fan and a member of the Marching 100 where he played the Tuba.  Survivors include a daughter Whitney (James) Fouts of  Lexington and a granddaughter Bailey Layne Fouts and a loving companion Freda Shumate & son Todd & family.  He was preceded in death by a special aunt Maurine Collins and numerous Deitz siblings.  Services will be 2 P.M. EDWARD ALLEN CARRINGTON, 46, of Johnson Lane May's Lick passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Meadowview Regional Medical Center.  He was a member of Shannon United Methodist Church and an avid hunter and outdoorsman.  Survivors include his mother Dora Belle Moran Carrington of Minerva and his wife Vicki Tillett Carrington.  2 daughters, Jennifer (Ronnie) Gillispie, Jr. of Brooksville and Tina (Josh) Cracraft of Robertson County.  4 grandchildren, Daniel Carrington, Haley Gillispie, Katelynn & Alana Cracraft.  3 brothers, Dave (Pam) Carrington of Robertson County and Harold (Elizabeth) Carrington and George (Michelle) Carrington of Minerva.  A special friend, Ron (Pam) Gallagher of Mt. RAMONA JEAN ALLEN DOYLE, 78, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009 at Robertson County Health Care Facility in Mt. Olivet where she had been a patient since  August of 2006.  She was the widow of Leo Doyle whosse death occurred on August 12, 2007.  She was a retired employee of January & Wood Co. in Maysville and attended Victory Christian Center.  Survivors inluce 3 daughters, Sharon (Dennis) Hodges of Noblesville, IN,; Carol (Bob) Thomas of May's Lick and Jan Doyle of Maysville. 1 step daughter Linda (Earl) Halleran of Augusta.  2 grandchildren Nicole Thomas and Daniel Hodges.  3 sisters Mary Cooper of Covington and Sandy Ayers of Florence and Peggy McVey of Greensburg, IN  She was preceded in death by a brother Billy Allen.  Services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009 at Palmer Funeral Home in May's Lick with Rev. James Robinson officiating.  Interment will follow in Shannon Cemetery.  Visitation 5-8 P.M. BONNIE JEAN ARNOLD KOEHLER, 73, of Elizaville passed away Sunday, August 16,
2009 at Fleming County Hospital.  She was a homemaker and a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Flemingsburg.  Survivors include her husband of 55 years, June Koehler.  2 sons Mike (Louis) Koehler of Bardstown and Ed (Michelle) Koehler of Elizaville.  1 daughter Debbie (John) Donovan of Ewing.  6 grandchildren, John Michael (Erin) Koehler, Andrew and Sarah Koehler.  Katie & Jake Donovan and Madison Koehler.  1 brother Ben (Becky) Arnold, Jr. of Columbus, OH.  Mass of Christian Burial will be intoned at 11 A.M. Wednesday, August 19th at St. Charles Catholic Church in Flemingsburg with Rev. Verne F. BESSIE MAE "BETTY" DECEMBLY, 79, of Maysville passed away Thursday
August 13, 2009 at Maysville Nursing & Rehab Facility.  She was a longtime employee of the Breslin Family and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.  Survivors include two grandchildren and 2 sisters, Virginia Franklin of Columbus, OH and Ada Louise Hodge of Owingsville, KY .  A host of nieces & nephews also survive.  She was preceded in death by a son Larry Gene Decembly and a granddaughter , sister Lillian Gibbs and brother Perry Decembly.  Services 2 P.M. Monday, August 17, at Bethel Baptist Church in Maysville with Rev. Doyle Warren officiating.  Interment will follow in the May's Lick Cemetery.  Visitation 6-9 P.M. Sunday, August 16th at the church



BETTY  WHALEY COLLINS, 76, of Independence, KY and longtime resident of Maysville passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Hospice of the Bluegrass in Ft. Thomas, KY.  She was a 31 years assistant of Dr. Frank Brisley and a 15 year assistant for Dr. Tim Leonard.  She was the widow of Henry S. "Red" Collins whose death occurred on May 17, 2001.  She was an active member of St. Patrick Church where she served on the Parish Council and the Altar Society.  She was a past president of the St. Patrick School Board and SPAC.  She was a member of the church choir and Connie's Class Class Room Mother for all 12 years of school.  She was a Kentucky Colonel.  Survivors include a daughter Connie (Patrick) Pohlgeers of Independence and 2 grandchildren, Cody Henry Pohlgeers, age 10 ,and Anastasia Fury Pohlgeers, age 6.  I sister Phoebe (Jack) Collins of May's Lick and 2 brothers Louis (Lil) Whaley of Danville and J.T. (Bernadine) Whaley of Maysville.  Numerous nieces & nephews also survive.  She was preceded in death by 2 sisters Virginia Belt and Marie Dickson.  Mass of Christian Burial will be intoned at 11 A.M. Saturday July 18, 2009 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Maysville with Rev. Joseph Gallenstein officiating.  Interment will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery.  Visitation 5-8 P.M. Friday, July 17, at Palmer Funeral Home with Rosary recited at 7:45 P.M.  Memorials suggested to St. Patrick School or the National Kidney Foundation.

BERNES KIRK, 87, a resident of Maysville Nursing & Rehab Facility passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at the facility.  He was a retired farmer and member of May's Lick Baptist Church and an U.S. Army Veteran of WWII.  He was preceded in death by his wife Nell Kirk in 2007.  He is survived by a sister Lillie Kelley of Centreville, Michigan and several caretakers at Maysville Nursing & Rehab Facility.  Graveside services will be 11 A.M. Friday, July 10, 2009 at Shannon Cemetery with Rev. David Cheek officiating.  Military rites will be conducted by Simon Kenton Post #2734 VFW.



WILLIAM E. "BEANY" THOMAS, JR., 59, of Cincinnati passed away Friday, May 22, 2009 in Cincinnati.  He was a 28 year employee of Tru Wall Concrete Co. and a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Lewisburg.  He is survived by his mother, Julia Warner Thomas of Maysville and his wife, Sheryle Hudson Thomas and 2 daughters, Sherri Thomas of Cincinnati and Tunisha Thomas of West Chester, OH.  4 grandchildren and a sister Dolores Sayles of Cincinnati.  Services will be at 11 A.M. Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Taylor officiating.  Interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery.  Visitation 10 A.M. Saturday until the time of the service.





ROBERT (BOB) THOMPSON SMITH, 95, of Maysville, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2009 in Lexington.  He was born in Paris, KY on Dec. 28, 1913 son of the late Harry & Mary Ingels Ranson Smith.  He was preceded in death by a sister Fannie Belle Smith in 1996.  He was a distinguished U.S. Army Veteran of WWII .  After the war he worked for the city of Maysville as property assessor and later as the city's financial manager.  He was a member of the Jaycees, Maysville Arts Commission, founder of the tourism committee, Elder of First Presbyterian Church.  Services will be conducted at 2:30 P.M. Friday, May 22, 2009 at Maysville Cemetery Chapel.  Interment will follow in the Maysville Cemetery.  Memorials suggested to First Presbyterian Church , 21 W Third St.  Maysville,  KY  41056



 

NEVILLE DOYLE, 82, of Helena Rd. May's Lick passed away Friday at his home.  He was a retired employee of the Coca-Cola Company in Ft. Lauderdale, FL where he and his wife of 66 years, Mayola Crockett Doyle ,lived for many years.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WW11 where he served as a Military Policeman and received a Purple Heart.  Survivors other than his wife are 2 daughters, Janet (Sam) Rawls of Conyers, GA and Maxine Bronson of West Palm Beach, FL; 4 grandchildren, Lisa Gattis, Shannon Vokes, Shelby Rawls and Renee Vokes.  4 great-grandchildren Avery Vokes, Aubrey Vokes, Jaca Buddenbaum and Riley Vokes.  He was preceded in death by a brother Norwood Doyle.  Services 1 P.M. Monday, May 18, 2009 at Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Cook officiating.  Interment will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.  Military rites conducted by Simon Kenton Post 32734 VFW.  Visitation 11 A.M. IONA FIELDS HUGHES, 82, of Maysville passed away Saturday, May 2, 2009 at Maysville Nursing & Rehab Facility.  She was the widow of Inez Hughes whose death occurred in 1975.  She was a former employee of Wald Manufacturing and Copeland Corp.  She was a member of Riverview Baptist Church in Aberdeen.  Survivors include a daughter Eva (Bill) Fultz of Maysville and 2 sons, Dwayne (Sharon) Hughes of Ripley and Clinton (Patty) Hughes of Maysville.  6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and 1 brother Richard Fields of Maysville.  She was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Wilburn, Earl, Jess and Joe Fields and a sister Elizabeth Fields.  Services will be 1 P.M. Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Don Owens officiating.  Interment will follow in Shannon Cemetery.  Visitation 11 A.M. until service time.  Memorials suggested to Hospice of Hope.






MAGGIE  CARPENTER  BAILEY, 95, formerly of Old Sardis Pike, May's Lick passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Robertson County Health Care in Mt. Olivet.  She was a native of Robertson County and was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church.  She was a lifetime member of the Farmerettes Homemakers Club and a volunteer for Tri-County We Care Mission in Mt. Olivet.  Survivors include a granddaughter, Christine Bailey and a daughter-in-law Patricia Bailey and a sister Pearl Day all of Maysville. She was preceded in death by her husband Omar T. Bailey on Dec. 5, 1969 and a son Nelson Bailey on Dec. 11, 1996.  Also seven brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.  Services 1 P.M. Friday, April 24, 2009 at Palmer Funeral Home with Dr. Michael Rice officiating.  Interment will follow in the Shannon Cemetery.  Visitation Noon until service time April 24th.  Memorials suggested to Sardis United Methodist Church.





JOHN WALTER WILLIAMS, JR., 56, of Anderson, IN and formerly of Lexington died Sunday, April 5, 2009 in Anderson.  He was a native of Fleming County and a member of First Baptist Church in Nepton, KY.   Survivors include four children, Jonathan (Jodie) Williams of Anderson,  Thomas (Russandra) Williams, Rani Chambers, Dorlinda (Shonie) Brotherton all of Lexington and 9 grandchildren.  2 brothers, Terry Williams and Roger Williams and 4 sisters, Lucy Persley, Mary Thomas, Shirley Madison and Bonnie Shelton all of Lexington.   A special friend, Clara Love and several aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews.  Services will be Thursday, April 9, 2009 at Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. C.H. Williams officiating.  Interment will be in May's Lick Cemetery.  Visitation after 11 A.M. Thursday, April 9th.



CLYDE J. "BUCK" BELLOWS, 50, of Clift Pike, May's Lick passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 19, 2009 at his residence.  He was a 25 year employee of Crounse Corporation and a member of the Moose Lodge.  He was a native of Boise, Idaho.  Survivors include his wife Sharon Newdigate Bellows.  1 daughter, Denise (Mike) Jolly and 1 son Ashley (Ada) Riggs both of Maysville.  3 grandchildren, Brianna Reed, Clay Reed and Jayden Riggs.  2 step grandchildren, Zan Jolly and Kelsey Jackson.  2 sisters. Kim (Butch) Chain of May's Lick and Susan Cornwell of Paducah, KY.  He was preceded by a brother, Joseph Bellows.  Services 5 P.M. Sunday March 22, 2009 at Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Henderson officiating.  Visitation 2-5 P.M. ZANE GRAVES, 75, of Sardis passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Meadowview Regional Medical Center.  He was a retired employee of Wald Manufacturing and had worked at Service City.  He was a member of May's Lick Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.  Survivors include a special friend Stella Moran of Sardis.  3 children, Patty Graves, Sharon Doyle and Danny Graves all of May's Lick.   5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  3 sisters, Elaine French and Linda Poe of Xenia, OH and Juanita Orme of Maysville.  Several nieces & nephews and care giver Diane Lytle also survive.  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Angie Graves on May 6, 2005.  Services 1 P.M. Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. TRENTON "TRENT" HUMPHREY, 42, of Maysville passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at his home.  He was a former driver of Geno's Taxi and a former employee of Bob Evans and Mitsubishi.  Survivors include his mother Peggy Lang Humphrey of Maysville and his wife Linda Quisenberry Humphrey.  3 children, Candace, Shaiann and Trenton Humphrey Jr. all of Maysville.  4 sisters,  Marsha (Carlos) Beckley, Paula Humphrey, Kaneesha DeJanette all of Maysville. Robin (Otho) Richardson of Dallas, TX and Tamara (Dewayne) Price of Columbus.  2 brothers Lemont and Leron Humphrey both of Lexington.  Services 1 P.M. Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Scott United Methodist Church in Maysville with Rev. George Edwards officiating.  Interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery.  Visitation 11 A.M. BILLY D. RAZOR, 80, resident of Johnson Junction Rd. Flemingsburg passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Fleming County Hospital.  He was a former retired farmer-landowner of the Lewisburg area of Mason County.  He was a member of Antioch Church of Christ and a US Army Veteran of the Korean War.  He was a native of Sharpsburg, KY.  Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Bertie Vice Razor.  1 son, Michael (Kim) Razor  and 1 daughter, Terri Leet and grandson Robby (Melanie) Leet all of Fleming Co.  He was preceded in death by 4 brothers including his itentical twin Bobby Gene Razor, J.C. Razor, Edwin Razor and Claude Razor.  Services will be 1 P.M. Friday, March 6, 2009 at Palmer Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Wiley officiating.  Interment will follow in the Longview Cemetery in Bethel, KY with military rites conducted by Wm. fant Post #5 American Legion, Flemingsburg.  Visitation 10 A.M.
