Emmitt W. Poe, 89, of May’s Lick passed away on Friday, June 14, 2019 at his residence. Mr. Poe was born in Sardis on April 5, 1930 son of the late Mildred Fulton Poe & Lawrence Poe, Sr. He was a retired supervisor for General Motors in Norwood, OH and a farmer and a U.S. Navy Veteran in the Korean War where he served on the USS George Clymer. He was a past member of the Maysville- Mason County Joint Planning Committee for 13 years. Emmitt loved farming, raising crops and cattle. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a 1949 graduate of May’s Lick High School.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Jane Case Poe. A son Richard (Diane) Poe of Crestwood, KY and a daughter, Kathryn (Peter) Egan of Maysville; six grandchildren, Tara (John) Seinckewicz, Sarah Poe (Yasser Ghrawi), Jonathon (Katie) Poe, Tyler (Courtney) Allen, Whitney (Justin Rodriguez) Allen and Maria Egan; two great grandchildren, Jack & Mary Alice Seinckewicz; a brother Ray “Sudie” Poe of Cincinnati. He was preceded in death by a son Dr. John W. Poe; two brothers, Lawrence “June” Poe, Jr. and Howard “Tade” Poe and a sister Helen Sanders.
Services will be conducted at Noon on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at May’s Lick Christian Church with Pastor Rhett Barker officiating. Burial will follow in the Shannon Cemetery with Military Rites. Visitation will be from 10 A.M. until time of the service at the church on Saturday. Memorials are suggested to May’s Lick VFD, May’s Lick Christian Church, or Hospice of Hope.
