MAYSVILLE Evelyn Rebecca “Becky” Thomas, 78, of Maysville passed away unexpectedly Saturday, September 23, 2017 at her home.
Becky was born in Lewisburg on February 13, 1939 daughter of the late John Nelson & Irene Breckenridge Davis. She was a member of the Lee’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Lewisburg. She was the first black student at Orangeburg School and first black employee of January & Wood and she also served as a nursing assistant at Maysville Nursing & Rehab Facility.
Survivors include 10 children, Dwayne Thomas, Calvin Thomas, Sr., Titina Thomas, Oona Gail Thomas, Tarita Jean (William) Madison, Sivi Evona Thomas, Clayton ( Tina) Thomas, Marlon Thomas, Galon (Brandy) Thomas and Darius Davis; 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Wayne Davis, William L. Davis, Winn O Davis,; 3 sisters, Gloria Rice, Virginia Lee Sanders and Wanda Jean Davis; close friend Peggy Brooks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell C. Thomas on October 2, 2014; 5 brothers, Robert Davis, Earl Davis, Fred Davis, John N. “Jack” Davis, Jr. and Raymond Davis; a sister Lavine Davis; and a grandson Nathaniel Crump.
Services will be conducted at 1 P.M. Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Lee’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Lewisburg with Rev. Gregory Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Baptist Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5-8 P.M. Friday at the church and 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday.
