Joyce Gayle Cummins Hammond, 70, of Maysville passed away peacefully at her home after a lengthy illness on Thursday, January 9, 2020. Joyce was born in Fayette County on June 5, 1949 daughter of the late James Lang & Norma Louise Gillespie Cummins. She was a retired elementary school teacher who taught in Grant County for 27 years. She was member of Benson United Methodist Church. She lived most of her life in Harrison County.
Survivors include her husband Rev. Paul B. Hammond; a brother Edward Lang Cummins. Several nieces & nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by a daughter Katie Leandra Hammond.
Services will be conducted at 1 P.M. on Saturday January 18, 2020 at Shannon United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Frederick and Chaplain Keith Sergent will officiate. Burial will follow in the Shannon Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Nathan Million, Eddie Million, Rick Mattox, Larry Wells, Billy Stitt and Jeff Shields. Visitation will be 4-8 P.M.
