            MAYS LICK   Stephen Maynard, 64, of the Slip-Up community passed away peacefully Saturday, January 6, 2018 at his home.

            Steve was born in Maysville on February 10, 1953 son of Carl “Whimpy” Maynard and the late Marcella McKenzie Maynard.  He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Susan Prather Maynard.  Two daughters, Sandi (Chad) Doyle and Jennifer Breeze; four grandchildren, Colby Doyle, Cade Doyle, Carlee Church and Jacob Roberts; a step-granddaughter, Allison Breeze; three brothers, Nelson “Kenny” (Kathryn) Maynard, Mark (Debbie) Maynard and John (Jennifer) Maynard; two sisters, Beth Maynard and Marcia (Roy) Turner; several nieces and nephews and loyal companion, his dog Buddy.  He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother Paul Allen Maynard.

            Steve grew up in the Lewisburg Community and moved to Slip-Up in 1972.  He was employed by Harrison Service Center before becoming a full-time farmer.  He was a dedicated farmer and had a strong work ethic like no other and farmed until his health would no longer allow.  He was a member of the Shannon UMC, Sardis Lions Club, Sardis VFD and was a Kentucky Colonel.  He loved to tease and torment and was quite a prankster.  Steve was an avid golfer and enjoyed NASCAR and attending races.

             A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11 A.M. Wednesday. January 10, 2018 at Shannon United Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Hammond officiating.  Burial will follow in the Shannon Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Brian Maynard, Rob Maynard, Chris Maynard, Scott Clary, Jacob Clary and Jeff Shields.  Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Pfeffer, Dick Clary, Tommy Conway, Wayne Cropper, Sam Middleton, Charles Cropper, Chris Church and Mark Whalen.  A visitation will be held from 4-7 P.M. Tuesday at the church.   Memorials suggested to Shannon or Bethel UMC’s or Shannon Cemetery.  Palmer Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the family.  Condolences to www.palmerfuneralhome.net
