Alva Shaw, 92, former resident of Maysville passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Ohio Valley Manor in Ripley, OH. where he had been a resident for sometime.
Mr. Shaw was born in Lewis County on September 7, 1922 son of the late Charles and Sarah Moveta Kegley Shaw. He was a retired employee of U.S. Steel and an Army Veteran of WW II where he served in New Guinea and the Southern Philippines as a medical technician. He attended Ripley Church of the Nazarene and he loved being with his family and loved the Lord.
Survivors include a son Jonathan (Carolyn) Shaw and a daughter Glenlyn (Johnnie) Conley both of Maysville. Two step children, Jim McIntire and Nora Ruble. Two grandchildren, Scott (Keri) Conley and Anne (Matt) Baker and two great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Ashley Baker. He was preceded in death by his wife Sentella Nelson Shaw and a step-son Dennis McIntire; a brother, Ora Shaw ; three sisters, Nellie Sexton, Flora Moore Dunigan and Edith Jackson; three half brothers Albert, Ernest and Elmer Hyrne.
Services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Friday, December 19, 2014 at Palmer Funeral Home in May's Lick with Rev.'s Clark Castle and Jonathan Groves officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M.
