MAY'S LICK  Alvena Case Henson, 90, a resident of Sardis passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Robertson County Health Care Facility.  She was a retired employee of the Mason County School System where she held the position of Food Service Manager and served at Sardis and May's Lick Elementary Schools and Mason County Middle School.  She made her home on the Hensonland farm and was the widow of Welborn Henson, Jr. husband of 61 years at the time of his death on May 6, 2003.
Mrs. Henson was born in Robertson County on May 15, 1921 daughter of the late Herman & Viola Workman Case.  She was a member of Sardis Christian Church and a former treasurer of the Sardis VFD.  She was an active member of the community and was always energetic in the projects at hand.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Norma Rose Sanders of Sardis; and a brother-in-law John Wayne (Delores) Henson of Robertson County. A niece Darlene Gifford and 2 nephews Wayne Burns and John Henson.  She was preceded in death by her parents and husband and a son Herman Eugene Henson on August 3, 1981; and a sister Mildred Haley.
Services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday Jan. 1, 2012 at Palmer Funeral Home in May's Lick with Bro. Doug Wright officiating.  Interment will follow in the Shannon Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers will be Wayne Gifford, Wayne Burns, John Henson, David Gifford, George "Bear" Linville and John McBride.  Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Stitt, Bill Winter, Harley Estep, Bob Tuel and the members of the Sardis VFD.  Visitation Noon until 2 P.M.
