Betty Hawkins Mason, 87, lifetime resident of May's Lick went to be with her Lord on Friday, March 10, 2017 at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe.

Betty was born near May's Lick on August 27, 1929 daughter of the late William Pickett & India Stoker Hawkins.  She was a well-known and beloved landowner in the May's Lick community.  She was an active member of the May's Lick Baptist Church for over 70 years and was one of the founders of the May's Lick Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary who untiringly worked to achieve the goal of founding and maintaining the department. She was a very loving and giving person and was a foster mother to many.  She and Wanda Ross operated the Betsy-Ross Antique Shop in May's Lick for a time and they enjoyed it immensely.

Survivors include two sons Brooks (Eve) Mason of Omaha, NE and David W. Mason of May's Lick;   six grandchildren, Adam Mason, Cole Mason, David S. Mason, Rose Mason, Kent Mason and Holly Neal; a step grandchild, Matthew Bowling; three great grand- children, Matthew Neal, Noah Neal and Chris Swisshelm; a step great-grandchild, Brody Bowling; a great- great- granddaughter, Everlyn K. Swisshelm; a daughter-in-law Tabitha Mason and a host of nieces & nephews, relatives and friends.   Especially close to her heart were Barb & Ella King.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Hensley Cleo Hawkins; a sister, Mae Kennedy Watson, a son Wayne P. "Butch" Mason, two grandchildren, Roy Brooks Mason II and Emily Metcalfe Mason; a great grand- son Parker Alexander Swisshelm, and her true love Wayne Mason.

Services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Wednesday,   March 15, 2017 at the May's Lick Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin Cornette and Rev. David C. Cheek officiating.  Burial will follow in the May's Lick Cemetery with Active Pallbearers, Marty Moran, Mike Moran, Ronnie Duncan, Tommy Mers, Rick Truesdell and Mitchell Dugan.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Joyce Truesdell, Joanne Crosby,   Faye Taylor, Roy Adams, Ted Adams, Charles Edgar Mason, Dorcus Watson Sartin and Mary Mitchell Wesson.  A visitation will be held from 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to May's Lick Baptist Church, May's Lick VFD or Hospice of Hope.  Palmer Funeral Home & Crematory of May's Lick is serving the family.  Condolences to www.palmerfuneralhome.net
