Cecile Calvert Everett Meals, of Dinuba, CA, and formerly of Maysville, 75, died March 1, 2015, in California.
Cecile was born October 16, 1939, in Auburn, NY, to the late Phoebe Arthur Ellis and Warfield Burgess Everett, both of Maysville.
Cecile graduated from high school in Mayfield, KY, and returned to the family home in Maysville after graduating from the University of Kentucky to care for her late grandmother, Cecil Linville. She was a former member of the Maysville First Christian Church and worked as a medical technologist at Hayswood Hospital before moving to her beloved California. She first lived in southern California in Burbank and then for a many years in Dinuba, CA, near Yosemite National Park. Cecile loved nature and went on to get a related masters degree from Humbolt State University, where she met a fellow student and her future husband, David Meals. Her accomplishments included hiking in Nepal and on the Muir Trail in California. She also loved cats and was known for always taking in strays.
Besides her parents and grandmother, Cecile was preceded in death by her stepmother, Rebecca Everett, and her grandparents, Anna and JC Everett. She is survived by her husband, David Meals, of Dinuba, CA, her sister Sally Everett (James Corley) of Massachusetts and Florida, her brother Tom Everett (Suzanne Gott) of Vermont and Florida, her nieces, Anna Corley and Kate Everett, and her nephew, Wyll Everett.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 9, at Palmer Funeral Home in Mays Lick with David Sugarbaker officiating. Visitation will be Monday from noon until the hour of the service. Interment will follow in the Mays Lick Cemetery in the Arthur family plot.
