David Wayne "Tubby" Hale, 79 of Maysville passed away on July 2, 2014 at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.  He was born on February 28, 1935 to the late Bernice "Happy" Hale and Elizabeth Rhodes Hale, Mr. Hale shared his birthday with his grandfather, the late D.E. Rhodes, February 28 also marked the date of his mother's death.

Mr. Hale was retired from DP&L and the U.S. Army.  Wayne was past President of the Washington Lions Club, a longtime member of the Washington United Methodist Church, a Kentucky Colonel, a volunteer at RSVP, and an avid longtime member of the Maysville Lodge #52 F & AM, and a member of the Oddfellows Lodge where he served in many capacities over the years.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, June Flanery Hale, June and Wayne were married on June 27, 1958 at the Central Methodist Church in Maysville by the Rev. Kenneth Hollbrook.  Also surviving is his daughter, Elizabeth Frederick of Maysville, 3 grandchildren; Kasey (Ryan) Collins, Michelle (Garrett) Buerkley and Kristen Hale, 2 great grandchildren; Easton Price and Paige Collins, and his brother Michael Hale of Catlettsburg.

In addition to his parents and grandparents he was also preceded in death by his son Richard W. Hale.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 3 PM on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at the Washington United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Beck, and Rev. James Rawlings officiating, Interment will follow at a later date in the Washington Baptist Cemetery.  A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM Saturday at the Church with Masonic Rites at 7:30 PM by the Maysville Masonic Lodge #52 F & AM.  Expressions of sympathy are suggested to the Washington United Methodist Church.  The Palmer Funeral Home of May's Lick is serving the family.  Online condolences to www.palmerfuneralhome.net
