Obituary

Edward Lee McCord, 84, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024 at Meadowview Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of Sandra Thomas McCord and the son of the late Woodrow and Ruth Stafford McCord.

He was born on December 30, 1939, in Orangeburg, Kentucky and a graduate of Orangeburg High School class of 1957. Edward was a member of Orangeburg Christian Church and Aberdeen Baptist Church.  He was a proud United States Navy Veteran who served his country from January of 1962 to May of 1966.

Edward also attended Middle Tennessee State University where he majored in historic preservation. He retired in 2002 from a 30-year career working for the United States Government and the United States Postal Service in Tennessee as a letter carrier.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Woodrow and Ruth McCord; son, Kevin McCord; brothers, Phillip McCord, Billy Pyles, John Pyles and one sister, Roberta Pyles Kinner.

Survivors include his loving wife, Sandy; son, Kelly (Shelia) McCord of Florence, AL; daughter, Ida Ruth McCord of Austin, TX; brother,Dean (Gloria) McCord of Marietta, GA and a host of extended family and friends.

There will be no formal services held at this time. Mr. McCord will be laid to rest in the Olivet Cemetery at the convenience of his family.

Memorial donations may be made in Edward's name to the Olivet Cemetery.
