Richard Gaylord Middleton, 81 of Maysville passed away Monday, December 16, 2024, surrounded by those who mattered to him most. Gaylord was a devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather; always putting those he loved before himself.

Born on March 3, 1943, Gaylord was the son of William and Margaret Huber Middleton. Gaylord was a beloved husband to his wife, Mary Ellen of nearly 61 years. He was the father of two daughters, Marcy and Kristi, and an outstanding grandfather to Tanner and Brady Faris. His love for his family was immeasurable and he found his greatest joy in their happiness.

Gaylord dutifully served 4 years in the United States Air Force, spending time in Cheyenne, Wyoming and Korea.  In Maysville, he enjoyed 48 years as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for Emerson Power Transmission and was proud to be a Senior Tax Consultant at H&R Block for 43 years.

Gaylord was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, DeKalb Lodge, and the Mason County Men's Club. He was an avid fan of Kentucky sports, tennis, and had a special place in his heart for the beach. But above all, his love for his family is what defined him.

Gaylord is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Pumpelly Middleton; his daughters, Marcy Faris (Robbie) and Kristi Middleton (Christian Crum); his grandchildren, Tanner and Brady Faris; his siblings, Corky Middleton (Terra) and Gwynn Grutza (Bob); his nieces and nephews, Kelly Middleton, Kerri Green, and Gabe and Dustin Grutza. He was preceded in death by his brother Mickey Middleton.

Services will be conducted at 1 P.M. Friday at Palmer Funeral Home & Crematory in May's Lick with Rev. Eric Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in the Shannon Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 11 A.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
