MAY'S LICK  George L. Jones,  87, of Lexington and formerly of May's Lick passed away Friday, March 16, 2012 at the VA Medical Center on Leestown Rd. in Lexington.  He was a farmer and electrician and a veteran of the U.S. Navy during WWII and a member of May's Lick Christian Church where he served as an Deacon Emeritus.
Mr. Jones was born in Fleming County on August 22, 1924 son of the late Henry & Lelah Christman Jones. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ethel Cropper Jones. 1 son, Jerry (Tammie) Jones of Nicholasville and a daughter Linda (George) Whitaker of Hopkinsville. A grandchild Kyle Whitaker and 3 step grandchildren, Jason & Paige Morton and Dan Whitaker also survive.  He was preceded in death by a brother William T. Jones and a sister Anna Johnson.
Services will be 2 P.M. Sunday at Palmer Funeral Home in May's Lick with Rev. Phillip Cook officiating.  Burial will be in May's Lick Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be by Simon Kenton Post #2734 VFW.  Visitation Noon till 2 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials suggested to May's Lick Christian Church.
