Glenda Joyce
(Ackley) Mitchell
July 16, 1941 – August 14, 2025
Glenda Joyce Mitchell, 84, was welcomed to her heavenly home with open arms on Thursday, August 14, 2025. She was born in Fleming County, Kentucky on July 16, 1941, to the late Frank and Virginia Roberts Ackley.
Glenda graduated from May's Lick High School where she met the love of her life, Carl "Buck" Mitchell and they started a life together. They were blessed with wonderful twins, Michelle and Michael. She worked in the home taking care of her family most of the time but was also employed at Walmart in electronics and cleaned several homes for people in the community. Glenda attended Orangeburg United Methodist Church where she faithfully served the Lord and grew daily in her faith. She possessed a sharp wit and an excellent sense of humor, consistently creating an enjoyable atmosphere for everyone around her. She enjoyed working in her flowers and was an outstanding baker. Glenda was a loving mother and the best Mamaw and Memaw to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who were her world. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Frank and Virginia Ackley and her husband of 61 years, Carl "Buck" Mitchell.
Those left here to carry on her loving legacy are her children, Michelle (Larry) Lang, Michael (Tricia) Mitchell; grandchildren, Eddie (Laney) Lang, Amanda (Chris) Lucas, Ryan (Cassie) Mitchell, Brittany (Dylan) Garrison, Josh Mitchell, Seth (Katie) Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Hailey, Kayley, Jarrah, Cadence, Lily, Clay, Drew, Zacc, Bryson, Maahlik, Owen, Liam, Marley, Lemon, Willow, Lydia, Madison; sister, Shelby (Jim) George and a host of extended family and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Palmer Funeral Home in May's Lick. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the hour of service. Glenda will be laid to rest in May's Lick Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Glenda's name to Hospice of Hope 909 Kenton Station Road, Maysville, KY 41056 or to Orangeburg United Methodist Church 7119 Orangeburg Road, Maysville, KY 41056.
