Obituary



Glenna Burnette Fossitt passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 23, 1955, in Atlanta, GA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph S. Burnette and Ann Kirk Burnette.


Mrs. Fossitt was a graduate of Cypress Lake High School in Fort Myers, FL. She also attended Maysville Community College.


Mrs. Fossitt enjoyed her employment with many local businesses which included Dr. Claude E. Cummins, Limestone Travel, Maysville OBGYN and Merle Norman. She also was devoted caregiver to her mother and managed the family farm and business affairs.


Through her philanthropy work with the Burnette Family Charitable Foundation, she helped many charitable organizations, both locally and nationally. She was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.


Mrs. Fossitt was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She adored spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her beauty, kindness and generosity to others.


Mrs. Fossitt is survived by her husband of 34 years, Larry Fossitt of Maysville; her daughters Leslie Fossitt of Lexington, KY, Ann Marie (Matt) Young of Hurricane, WV, Julie Scheek of Morrow, OH; grandchildren Caroline & Charlie Young, Kayla Lykins; great-grandchild, Wyatt Lykins; sister, Ann (Charles) Peters; nephew, Josh Shortt; sister-n-law, Susan Curry; brother-n-law, John (Sharon) Fossitt. Also, her best-friend Ginny B. Butler and special friends, The BOWS and Nancy Osborne.


Services will be held at 1 P.M. Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Maysville with visitation 11 A.M. until the hour of the service at the church.  Palmer Funeral Home of May's Lick is serving the family.


Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Young, Todd Cayce, Dickie Butler, John Fossitt and Josh Shortt.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Markey Cancer Center or Hospice of Hope.
