MAYSVILLE Harold Glenn "H.G." Orme, Jr., 70, a well known resident of Maysville died unexpectedly Monday, May 16, 2011 at his residence.
Mr. Orme was born in Maysville on February 27, 1941 son of the late Harold Glenn Orme, Sr. and Stella Reed Orme. He was a graduate of May's Lick High School and attended Morehead State University and received certification from the University of Cincinnati in Transportation Logistics. He was retired from Emerson Power Transmission as Traffic Manager in 2004 with 40 years experience. He was highly esteemed by Emerson Corporate in that he acted as an advisor to other Emerson Divisions, served on both Overnite Transportation's and Fed Ex's Advisory Board. He worked with Maysville Area Chamber of Commerce as the Transportation Logistics Representative for new business. He was currently serving as a member of the Maysville Ethics Committee and as President of the Mason County Men's Club. He was a member of the Washington United Methodist Church where he served as an usher and a member of the Board of Trustees and the DeKalb Lodge and an RSVP volunteer. Early in his working career he was a Forman/Buyer for the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. for 4 years and a former member of the U.S. Army Reserves. He was an avid sports fan and loved watching his grandsons play as well as the Mason County Royals and the U.K. Wildcats.
Survivors include his wife Diana Craig Orme. The couple would have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary on July 2nd. Also 2 children Cheri (Todd) Johnson and Randy Orme both of Maysville. 2 grandchildren, Ryan Johnson and Bryce Johnson.
Services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Friday at Washington United Methodist Church with Rev. Phil Bradley officiating. Interment will follow in the Green Acres Cemetery with active pallbearers, Gerald Orme, Gary Truesdell, Bill Leet, Herman Frodge, Dick Clary, Rodney Mason, Michael Berry and John Berry. Honorary Pallbearers will be Clarence Gifford, Kenneth Haggard, LeRoy Wallingford, George Newdigate, Dale Horner and Jerry Butler. Visitation will be 5-8 P.M. Thursday at the church.
