Jack Douglas
Bonecutter
September 18, 1951 – April 27, 2026
Jack Douglas Bonecutter, 74, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born on September 18, 1951, in Shelby, Ohio to the late Douglas Robert Bonecutter and Alydia Stump Avent.
Jack grew up in Ohio and worked for the Federal Government as an engineering consultant for many years before retiring. He was an avid outdoorsman who had an immense passion for fishing and hunting. Jack enjoyed fishing trips to Lake Erie with friends. Besides enjoying the outdoors, Jack’s greatest love was spending his time with his best friend and wife, of 50 years, Gayle. They enjoyed their life together and both shared a deep love for animals. Jack was truly the definition of an “Animal Whisperer.” Jack and Gayle had the privilege of loving and caring for fourteen fur babies; four dogs and ten cats, who all lived in perfect unity because of Jack.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Douglas Bonecutter, and Alydia Avent, siblings, Robert Wilson Bonecutter, Martin Bonecutter, and Robert Bonecutter.
Survivors include his best friend and wife, Gayle Flynn; sisters, Nola Bonecutter (Marty) Vail, Christal Bonecutter Wright, Jacqulyn Poteet, and many good friends who will miss him deeply.
In keeping with Jack’s wishes, no formal service will be held at this time. Palmer Funeral Home is assisting and caring for the Bonecutter family.
