James B. 'J. B.' DeVaughn,  87, of Maysville passed away Monday, July 7, 2014 at Maysville Nursing and Rehab Facility.  He was a retired tobacco & cattle farmer and had pride in his tobacco & livestock.  J.B. served his country in the U.S. Army in WW II.
Mr. DeVaughn was born in Mason County on December 12, 1926 son of the late Alfred & Tessie Irene Collins DeVaughn.  He was a member of the Washington United Methodist Church and Simon Kenton Post #2734 VFW. In his younger days he enjoyed squirrel hunting, fishing and playing a little pool.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Hazel Frazier DeVaughn.  An adopted son Stanley (Susie) Hester; a special niece, Karen Jones and a special nephew Jerry Gifford; Several others nieces, nephews and cousins and a special friend Cecil Fulton; and a brother-in-law William "June" Frazier also survive.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Emma Dean Gifford and Eva Mae Fogg.
Services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Washington United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Beck officiating.  Burial will follow in the Washington Baptist Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by Simon Kenton Post # 2734 VFW.  Active Pallbearers will be Billy Frazier, Jason Gifford, Danny Collins, Joe Jolly, Wayne Gifford and Dennis Dale Goodwin.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Stanley Hester, Larry Fulton, Trent Carpenter and Eugene Ensor. Visitation 5-8 P.M. Wednesday at the church.  Palmer Funeral Home of May's Lick is serving the family.  Memorials suggested to Washington United Methodist Church.  Condolences to www.palmerfuneralhome.net
