MAYS LICK James C. "Jimmy" Stitt, 68, of the Old Sardis Pike passed away Monday April 29, 2013 at his home. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Sardis United Methodist Church.
Jimmy was born in Mason County on May 20, 1944 son of the late Raymond & Marceline Curtis Stitt. He was a Kentucky Colonel and an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Betty Jo Blankenship Stitt. Three children, Keith (Patty) Stitt of May's Lick, Gayle Stitt of Maysville and Sheri (Tony) Wheary of May's Lick. 7 grandchildren, Bradley and Brian Stitt, Michele & Tia Montgomery, Taylor McVey, Nick Wheary and Byron Parker. 3 sisters, Nancy Price of Wedonia, Joyce Crawford of Virginia and Janie (Brad) Applegate of Lewisburg; 3 brothers, Rolly Stitt of Wedonia, Donnie (Carlotta) Stitt and Jerry (Christine) Stitt of Flemingsburg. Also several nieces & nephews and a special brother-in-law Jay Blankenship. He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, David Stitt.
Services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday at Sardis United Methodist Church with Dr. Michael Rice officiating. Burial will follow in the Shannon Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jeff McVey, C.B. Hester, Jeff Shields, Billy Staggs, Clay Barton and Gary Cracraft. Honorary pallbearers will be Brian and Bradley Stitt and Jay Blankenship.
