Obituary

Janice Kaye McKee, 58, of Maysville, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at her residence.

Born in Nicholas County on January 13, 1968, her parents were the late James Gulley and the late Omie Shields.

Janice had worked at Little Ceasars, Big Lots, Caproni’s, and Crystal Tissue. She was a member of the Eternal Life in Jesus Christ. She liked to play Bingo, being with her grandchildren and the neighbor kids, and going to church.

Janice is survived by her four children, David Ray Fite, Jr., Robert Joseph Fite, Thomas Thoroughman, and Connor Fite; her four grandchildren, Kaylynn Mason, Emilia Annbelle Grace Lucia, Elaine King, and John Cotton. She is also survived by her four siblings, twin brother James Gulley, Jr. and wife Laura, Barbara Earlywine and husband Kevin, Linda Bowling and husband David, and Helen Shields and husband Raymond.

In addition to her mother Omie, and her father James, Janice was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Russell and Mirtie Gulley; and her maternal grandparents, John and Alice Shields.

The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Jesse Hesler and Bro. Gene Staggs officiating.

Janice will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Cemetery Flemingsburg.

Pallbearers include Noah Hamilton, Connor Fite, Robert Fite, Travis Gulley, Darren Hickerson, James Beckett, Brian Shields, and Jason Shields.

Visitation will be 11 a.m., until the hour of service at 1 p.m., Wednesday, at Palmer Funeral Home located 5043 Main Street in May’s Lick, Ky. 41055.
