IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janice E.
(Stanfield) Tomes
December 11, 1948 – April 8, 2025
Janice Elaine Tomes, 76, passed away on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Mercy Anderson Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born on December 11, 1948, in her home in Tollesboro, Kentucky to the late Estill and Rena Hughes Stanfield.
Janice worked for Lincoln Reality and Safeguard for several years before she retired. She was dedicated to her work and her clients, always providing for her family. Janice was the founder of the Facebook group, If Kentucky is a part of you, where she enjoyed communicating with fellow Kentuckians on their history and facts about the state. She loved collecting antiques and was a huge history buff. She especially enjoyed cooking for her family for holiday gatherings and was famous for her finest broccoli casserole and delectable ham. She could make you laugh with her quick-witted sense of humor, but her immense love and compassion towards others always prevailed. She was the most gentle, kindhearted lady, and the absolute best Mother to her children and Grandmother to her Grandchilden. She will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.
Those left here to carry on her loving legacy are her three children, Stacy (Marian) Grayson, Shannon (Richard) Fetters, Danielle Tomes; grandchildren, Ethan, Kira, and Logan Grayson, Meagan and Kyle Fetters; great grandchildren, Baylee, Lexi, Paisley, Kyleigh, Keegan Fetters and Ashton Steinker; siblings, Anita (Boyd) Walker, Frank Stanfield; and father to Stacy and Shannon, Larry Grayson, and several nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
Preceding Janice in death are her parents, Estill and Rena, husband, Dan Tomes and her brothers, Don, Rick, and Darryl Stanfield.
In keeping with Janice's wishes, services will be private and held at the convenience of her family. She will be laid to rest in the Hillcrest Garden of Memories beside her husband, Dan.
