FLEMINGSBURG   J.D. Ward, 81, of Flemingsburg, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at his home.

J.D. was born in Maysville on April 16, 1936 son of the late J.D. & Roxie Gilbert Ward.

He was retired from the family business of Maysville Office Equipment and was a 1955 graduate of May's Lick High School and obtained a business degree at Morehead State University.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  He enjoyed the outdoors , gardening, woodworking, and was an avid walker and loved nature.  He left a memorable impression on everyone he ever met.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years Laura Cropper Ward;  a son Bill (Jen) Ward of Alexandria;   a grandchild Crystal Ward; and a brother, Herman (Margaret) Ward of Maysville.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Palmer Funeral Home & Crematory in May's Lick.  The family will receive friends from 1 P.M. until the hour of the service on Sunday.  In lieu of flowers memorials suggested to Hayswood Home Health, 300 South Main Cross St. Flemingsburg,  KY  41041.  Condolences to www.palmerfuneralhome.net
