Joann H. Doyle, 82 of Sardis passed away Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home in Flemingsburg.
Mrs. Doyle was born in Mason County on April 13, 1933 daughter of the late Iler
and Lydia Williams Henderson. She had recently retired as Postmaster of the Sardis Post Office after 46 years of service. She shared her gift of writing poetry and stories with her family and friends and was a lifetime member of Sardis United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women. Joann was a member of the Sardis Homemakers and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, W.T. "Wick" Doyle. A son Billy Joe (Vicki) Doyle of Dover and a daughter, Cheryl (John) Palmer of Erlanger,; 4 grandchildren, Jarrod Doyle, Eric Doyle, Rodney Myers and Randy Myers,; step grandchildren; Michael Palmer and Allison (Bud) Whitaker; great grandchildren, Dillon, Dalton (Katy) and Duncan Doyle, Madison, Matthew and Derek Myers, Mitchell Palmer, Dru Whitaker, Rodney Buerkley and Blayton Teegarden; great-great granddaughter, Olivia Doyle and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters, Norma Frodge and Francis Wheatley.
Services will be conducted at 1 P.M. Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Palmer Funeral Home in May's Lick with Dr. Michael Rice officiating. Active pallbearers will be Jarrod Doyle, Eric Doyle, Rodney Myers, Randy Myers, Michael Palmer and Bud Whitaker. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Gifford, C.B. Hester, Herbert Doyle and Jackie Doyle. Burial will follow in the Shannon Cemetery. Visitation will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday until the hour of the service.
