John Wayne Henson, 84, of Brooksville passed away Monday, July 21, 2014 at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home in Flemingsburg.  He was a well known retired farmer from the Abigail community of  Robertson County.
John Wayne was born in Mason County on April 7, 1930 son of the late Welborn & Rosalia Cooper Henson.  He served on the Germantown Fair Board for 45 years and served two terms as president and was a member of the Robertson County School Board for 12 years. He also served on the ASCS committee in Robertson County and the Buffalo Trail Water Commission and was a member of the Mt. Olivet Lions Club.  He was an avid UK basketball fan.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Dolores Collins Henson.  A son John L. (Amanda) Henson of Brooksville; a daughter, Darlene (David) Gifford of Robertson Co.; 4 grandsons, Lee & Les Gifford of Robertson Co. and Christopher Henson of Lexington, SC and Kyle Henson of Crestview Hills; 4 great-grandchildren, Tanner & Sindole Gifford and Elyse & Allyson Henson.  Also a sister Norma Rose Sanders of Maysville also survives.  He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers, Welborn Henson Jr., Harold E. Henson, Darrell Henson and a nephew Gene Henson.
