John M. Purcell, 82, of May's Lick passed away Friday, July 3, 2015 at Hospice Care Center at Kenton Pointe.
Mr. Purcell was born in Mason County on July 8, 1932 son of the late George Thomas & Laura Fields Purcell. He was a lifelong dairy and tobacco farmer and was a devout family man and loved his best friend Red Dog.
Survivors include three daughters, Lorenia Kinnett of May's Lick, Bonnie (Charlie) Calvert of Maysville and LaDonna Purcell of Morehead; two sisters, Alberta Tumey and Sarah Baker; five grandchildren, Brooks (Heath) Gulley, Blair Manning, Shae (Chad) McKay, Charlie (Lisa) Calvert, Cady (Gepson) Jean-Baptiste; two great-grandchildren, Emma Gulley and Jake Calvert. He was preceded in death by his wife Deloris Ann Dailey Purcell on June 2, 1992 and his parents and a daughter Alberta Gifford; sister, Audrey Tumey and brothers, Thomas Purcell, Melvin Purcell, Howard Purcell, Nathan Purcell and a son-in-law Ted Kinnett.
Services will be conducted at 12 Noon on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Palmer Funeral Home in May's Lick with Pastor Adam Gulley officiating. Burial will follow in the Shannon Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers will be Charlie Calvert, Chad McKay, Heath Gulley, Gepson Jean-Baptiste, David Swanger and Don Tumey. Visitation will be from 6-8 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
