Leon Willett 76, well-known teacher, coach and minister of the Mason County area passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at his home in Columbia, KY after an illness of several months.  Rev. Willett was born in Henry County on November 21, 1937 son of the late Raymond & Elizabeth Casey Willett.  He was a pastor and elder in the United Methodist Church and a graduate of Asbury Seminary and was a teacher and coach in the Mason County School System for 31 years.  He coached women's  basketball and men's youth softball, winning multiple state and national titles. Leon was recipient of the Outstanding Youth Education Award and was honored as a Kentucky Colonel.  He was best known as a pastor, mentor and friend to many.  Survivors include his wife Eunice Jones Willett of Columbia; a son Tim Willett of Columbia and two daughters, Patty McCann (Bob) of Columbia and Libby Ogletree (Charlie) of Sausalito , CA;  two sisters, Donna Johnson and Susie Hunter both of Carrollton,  KY.  Six grandchildren also survive, Angie, Kristi, Bobby and John McCann, Abigal and James Willett. He was preceded in death by a brother Wayne Willett.  Services will be conducted at 1 P.M. Sunday (CST) at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia with Pastor Bob McCann officiating.  Burial will follow in the Bearwallow Cemetery in Columbia.  Visitation after 9:30 A.M.(CST) Sunday at the funeral home.
