Mary Lucille Cooper, 91, of Maysville, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2013 at the Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mary was born in Robertson County on February 17, 1922, daughter of the late Frank and Irene (Sims) Cleaver.
Mary retired from the Proctor and Gamble Company in Cincinnati in 1976. After retirement, she and her late husband, Edmond Cooper, moved to Winter Haven, FL to enjoy 17 of their retirement years. Eventually, the couple moved back to the Maysville area to be closer to friends and family.
Mrs. Cooper possessed a strong relationship with God, attending May's Lick Baptist Church and New Hope Christian Church since living in the Maysville area. Mary was a member of the Mason Co. Homemakers and was dedicated to working for area organizations through the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. Mary also had a strong passion for traveling the world. Since retirement, Mary and several close friends took every opportunity to travel to various destinations. One of Mary's favorite conversation topics was telling others about where she had been or where she was getting ready to go.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond G. Cooper; two siblings, Helen Cleaver Gifford and Bronson Cleaver; and great-nephew, John Gifford.
Mrs. Cooper is survived by a step-son, Jack (Arlene) Cooper of Chandler, AZ; two step-grandchildren, Ryan C. Cooper of Atlanta, GA, and Amanda J. (David) Michelson and two step-great grandchildren, Olivia Cole and Sydney Ryann of Chandler, AZ; special nephew, Oney (Janice) Gifford Jr. and great- nephew Frank (Billie Jo) Gifford and great-great niece Sarah Grace Gifford of Mt Olivet; great-great nephew Jake Everett Gifford of May'sLick; two nieces, Sonne Graham and Betty (Ed) Receski of Lexington and a wealth of other nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held at Palmer Funeral Home in May's Lick at 1:00pm on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013 with Mike Stephenson officiating. Burial will follow in the May's Lick Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11:00am – 1:00pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
