It is with great sadness we say goodbye to James Lee Fant, Senior Pastor at Trinity United Methodist Church in Maysville, Kentucky, who passed away on July 10, 2024. He lost his battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Janet of 22 years, his 2 children: Craig Fant and Ben (Erica) Fant, his 2 step-children: Ben (Missy) Moore and Julie (Chris) Carr, his 2 grandchildren: Georgia and Elizabeth Fant, his 6 step-grandchildren: Brianna (Noah) Baisden, Braiden Moore, Maddie Moore, Nathan Joyner, Wesley Joyner, Hunter Carr, his 1 step great grandchild: Colter Baisden, and sister Kaye Power. He was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Myrtle Fant and his brother Ben Fant.
He was a man who had a passion for education and learning. He attended Kentucky Mountain Bible College achieving an AA; Asbury University achieving a BA; Luther Rice College achieving a MDiv; Columbia State University achieving a MEd; University of Southern Mississippi achieving an Ed Specialist; Emory University achieving his Course of Study (COS) in the United Methodist Church. He loved the Lord and spent the last years of his life teaching and training men and women to be disciples who make disciples. It was his passion.
A funeral service will be held on Monday July 22, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church 26 W. Third Street, Maysville, Kentucky 41056 with Dr. Kelly McClendon officiating the service. There will be a meal for family and all those participating in the service following the funeral in the Fellowship Hall of the church. A visitation will be held for family and friends on Sunday July 21, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church.
Burial will follow after the meal at Mt. Gilead Cemetery in Campbell County on State Road 1996 of the AA Highway.
Pallbearers will be Joey Waddell, Joe McCullough, Mike Huff, Nathan Joyner, Wesley Joyner and Chris Carr. Honorary Pallbearers; Brian Biddle, Jim Clarke, Kirk Clarke, David Freeman, Rick Hartman, CJ Hunter, Don Michaud, and Terry Stanfield.
