Mason County Commissioner Patrick J. McKay IV, 61, of Maysville passed away March 22, 2015 at Meadowview Regional Medical Center.  He was born October 10, 1953 to Jane Stahl McKay and the late Pat McKay, Jr.
Pat is survived by his wife, Gayle H. McKay, whom he married February 17th, 1984, sons, Brent (Angel) Curtis, Todd Curtis and grandchildren, Carlee and Brady Curtis, Zoe and Gabriel Curtis as well as his mother (Mama Jane) and his 8 brothers and their families, Mike (Cherri, Jason, Jennah, Caylan), Leo (Helen, Megan, Jacob), Joe (Patsy, Amanda, Sean), Victor (Mary, Patrick, Caroline), Dan (Laresa, Luke, Maddy, Lacey, Daniel), Gerald (Julie, Allison, William, Victoria, Elizabeth), Dennis (Paul), Bernard (Zack) McKay and Phil Stanton, sister and brother-in-law, June and Arnold Wolfe (Don Wolfe, Kena Rigdon, Amy Thomas), Special friends, Kelly, Sandy and Flynn Ashley.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Chaplain Lt.
Colonel Donald Hunter.

He will be sadly missed by many dear friends in Mason County and surrounding counties along with the St. Patrick Church community. Pat was a graduate of St. Patrick School, Maysville Community College, Morehead State University and Ohio Institute of Photography.  He had many professions:  Photographer along with his father at McKay's Studio, Special Education Teacher at Augusta, KY and St. Patrick School Religion Teacher.  His proudest accomplishment was graduating MSU at age 50 and starting his educational career.  Pat was a loyal member of the Knights of Columbus, DeKalb Lodge, Moose Lodge, St. Patrick Church and KACo. Politics was Pat's passion and he was elected as Mason County Commissioner in 1994 and served this community faithfully for 21 years, serving on the Joint Mason County Ambulance Committee, Mason County Budget Committee, Roads and Bridge Committee, Renaissance Board, Buffalo Trace District Health Board and many offices in the Knights of Columbus including past Grand Knight and was always looking for better ideas and ways to improve Mason County for all residents and will be greatly missed by his constituents as well as many other officials around the state. He was an avid UK basketball and Notre Dame football fan. The most famous, booming laugh in Mason County has been silenced! The world is much too quiet today. You will be missed more than you could have imagined!
