MT. OLIVET Paul Steven Pugh, 68, of Mt. Olivet went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 10, 2012 after bravely battling a long illness. He was a former employee of Dravo Lime.
Steve was born on May 5, 1944 in Maysville son of the late Lee Conner & Bertie Virginia Shepherd Pugh. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Robert Lee Pugh and Ernest Wayne Pugh, and a sister Helen Pugh Hunt.
Mr. Pugh was a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, Trustee, and served on the Baptismal Committee where he blessed the church members with his bass voice through special songs such as, "Supper Time" and "Life's Railway to Heaven". Steve also sang with several groups throughout his life, all of which held a special place in his heart. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Korea during the Vietnam War. At any given time Steve would love to talk about hunting and fishing, two of his favorite pastimes. Most of all, Steve loved his family and was a devoted husband and Father.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Linda Carol Courtney Pugh, his son Paul (Cassie) Pugh II of Citrus, Springs, FL, his daughter, Melissa (Brad) Barger of Pendleton, Co., 7 grandchildren; Fallon, Brayde, Dylan, Skylar, Dillon, Jaxon and Steven, his brother and best friend, Darrell Winston Pugh of May's Lick and several nieces & nephews.
Services will be conducted at 1 P.M. Friday, Dec. 14, 2012 at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the May's Lick Cemetery with Military rites by Simon Kenton Post #2734 VFW. Visitation 5-8 P.M. Thursday at the church. Memorials suggested to Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
