IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Philip M.
Kalb
October 10, 1941 – September 2, 2024
Mr. Philip M. Kalb October 10th, 1941 - September 2nd, 2024 At the age of 82, Mr. Philip Merrill Kalb passed away September 2nd, 2024 peacefully at home with his family by his side. Phil was born on October 10th, 1941 to the late Gustav "Gus" Alfred Kalb and Mary Ruth (Ford) Kalb on the Kalb Family farm in Mason County, Kentucky. His twin sister, Phyllis Pearl (Kalb) Steelman, followed right behind him at birth. Phil was a proud Orangeburg High School Tiger and graduated in 1959. On a hot 17th day of June in 1962, Phil married who would become his wife of 62 years, Linda Jean (Hutchison) Kalb. After being married, they fostered several kids in their early years and then adopted and raised three children of their own. Phil was a farmer his entire life, mostly farming the family's land on Strodes Run Road until 2003. He loved his wife, family, friends, puppies, and his tractors.
Phil was a lifelong member of the Mill Creek Christian Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, elder, deacon, board chairman, and trustee. Being involved in the community, he was a charter member for 54 years of the Lewisburg Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as the 1st Assistant Chief for 20 years. Phil was an avid University of Kentucky Wildcat Basketball fan and loved watching them play in the winter months when outside work couldn't be completed. He started collecting model tractors that he grew fond of during and post-pandemic. In the summer of 2024, Phil purchased what would be his final full-size tractor in May, a 1952 John Deere Model B, which was his pride and joy.
Phil is survived by his wife of 62 years, Linda Jean (Hutchison) Kalb, his three children David Gustav (Krista) Kalb of Maysville, Darrell Eugene (Michelle) Kalb of Maysville, and Mary Sue (Kalb) Stewart of Maysville; a twin sister, Phyllis Pearl (Kalb) Steelman of Carriere, Ms.; 5 grandchildren, Russell (Casey) Goins, D.
