Obituary

Ralph Clay Sims, 78, of Mt. Olivet died on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Meadowview Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Sims was born in Robertson County on February 16, 1932 son of the late G.J. (Datie) and Minnie Cleaver Sims.
Ralph was a lifelong resident of Robertson County where he was a landowner and farmer.  He served as a director of the Farmers Mutual Insurance Company of Mason County and a board member of the Buffalo Trail Water Association.  He also served 13 years as a magistrate of Robertson County.  He worked as a puller for the Burley Tobacco Co-op for many years and later served 21 years as an elected director for his district for the Burley Tobacco Co-op in Lexington.  He was employed for more than 20 years at the Growers-Banner Tobacco Warehouses which later became the Liberty-Crain Tobacco Warehouse.  He was a member of the Piqua United Methodist Church and attended the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Jane Linville Sims.  1 daughter, Seminda (Mindy) Saunders and son-in-law Tom Saunders of May's Lick.  2 grandsons Clay Saunders and Taylor Saunders.  1 sister-in-law Willie Sims of Cynthiana and a brother-in-law Jim Wilson of Brooksville. 2 nephews Barry Sims and Michael Sims and a niece Cindy Wilson . Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Addie and Russell McCord and a brother Harold Sims.
Services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday at Palmer Funeral Home in May's Lick with Dr. Michael Rice and Rev. Jonathan Lewis officiating.  Interment will follow in the Shannon Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Oney Gifford, Jr., Barry Sims, Michael Sims, Brian Furnish, John Wallace and Mike Smith.  Honorary Pallbearers are Charles Stapleton, Sanford Parker, Wayne Buckler, Bill McBride, Gary Clark, Ted Colvin, Clarence Thomas and Roy Tuel.  Visitation 6-9 P.M.
