Ranie Watts, 82, of Lexington, gained her heavenly wings and went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Cambridge Rehab in Lexington, KY.

Ranie was born on June 13, 1944, in Breathitt County, to the late Arnold Watts and the late Jennie Gross Watts

Ranie’s father, Arnold, was killed in action at Normandy Beach in 1944 when she was only one month old. He never knew his baby girl had been born, as he was killed before the letter announcing her birth arrived.

Ranie loved having family gatherings, cookouts, traveling, and visiting loved ones. She was such a humble person. She will be greatly missed, but we find comfort knowing she is having a great reunion with her heavenly loved ones and finally getting to meet her dad.

Raine is survived by her brother Tommy Barnett and wife Brenda; sisters Betty Ross and husband Jim, Emma Masters and husband Pokey, Dorothy Tudor, Joyce Curtis and Martha Perkins; along with several nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Arnold and Jennie; companion Herbert Sharp; and sisters Mary Neal and Carolyn Finney

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Palmer Funeral Home

Ranie will be laid to rest in May’s Lick Cemetery.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. until the hour of service at Palmer Funeral Home (5043 Main St. May’s Lick, KY 41055).
