Raymond Lang, 89, a resident of Ocean Springs, MS, passed away January 1, 2026, at Ocean Springs Hospital surrounded by his family and friends.
Ray was born January 1, 1937, in Mason County, Kentucky to Claude S. Lang and Bessie Davis. He attended John G. Fee High School in Maysville, KY. Following his 25-year service in the United States Air Force, where he achieved the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Ray attended Park University in Dayton, Ohio and received a Bachelor of Science degree. He was married to Rene Chinn-Lang on September 21, 1990.
During his military career, Ray served honorably in several positions including aircraft mechanic, flight engineer and aircraft maintenance superintendent. Ray transitioned to civilian life in 1980 where he worked for the Department of Defense as a configuration management specialist for the F-16 Fighting Falcon and acquisition manager for foreign military sales.
Ray retired in 1996 and, since his retirement, pursued activities and advocated for causes that were important to him. A pillar of his community, Ray was an active and vocal member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, the Jackson County Democratic Executive Committee, sat on the Board for The Boys and Girls Club of Jackson County and was a committed volunteer at the Lord is My Help food pantry.
Ray is preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters, George Thomas Lang, Richard Lang, Lucille (Lang) Brooks, Eugene Lang, Pauline (Lang) Smith, Robert Lang, Russell Lang, Claude Alexander Lang, William Dee Lang and Anna Elizabeth Lang; and one child, Reginald Lang.
Ray is survived by his wife, Rene Chinn-Lang; one brother, Lawrence Lang (Georgia Lang); four children, Raymond Lang Jr. (Jaynetta Lang), Cory Chinn-Lang, Tyrone Williams and Aneka Billings; two grandchildren, Jasta and Marley Lang; a beloved godchild, Whitney Gipson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church in May's Lick, KY with Rev. Rodney Bennett officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the church. Ray will be laid to rest in the May's Lick Cemetery will full military honors rendered.
