EWING Robert E. "Bob" Silvey, 64, of Ewing, KY passed away at his home on Saturday, September 22nd with his wife Teri and beloved dogs at his side.
He was a retired employee of the Bluegrass Army Depot and a veteran of the US Air Force, where he served in Vietnam from 1967 – 1969, earning two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star.
He was a faithful member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, a life member of Amvets, and a former member of the Committee of 101, ushering many University of Kentucky basketball and football games. Bob loved to fish, follow UK Basketball and take beautiful pictures of the natural world around his home.
Bob was born on November 5, 1948 in Maysville Kentucky, son of the late Oliver Lewis Silvey and Alberta Alice Wheeler Silvey. He was preceded in death by his parents and special dogs Princess and Noelle.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 29 years Teri (Hawkey) Silvey, one daughter, Nicole Silvey of Mt. Olivet, one sister Karen Silvey (Randy) Anderson of Fleming County, and three brothers, Allen (Diane) Silvey, Jeff (Cheryl) Silvey, and Kevin (Vickie) Silvey. He also leaves behind in-laws Barney and Willodean Hawkey, Mike and Gail Hawkey, Linda Hawkey Brandt and Chuck Brandt, and Karen and Tim Hawkey. He had 13 nieces and nephews, three great-nephews and one great-niece, and many loving friends and relatives. Two devoted dogs, Doodle and Dippy, also survive.
A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday, September 29th at 1 PM at the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 6184 Ewing Road, Ewing, KY 41039. All friends and family are invited to attend to remember Bob as the kind, loving, faithful person that he was.
