Stevan Grant “Steve” Campbell, 71, of Maysville, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2026, in Richmond, Kentucky.
Born in Mason County on August 17, 1954, he was the son of the late Dewey Campbell and Mary Ethel Hord Campbell.
Steve devoted his life to teaching and spent his career with 4th and 5th grade students at Simmons Elementary and Southside Elementary Schools in Woodford County. He was also instrumental in developing the academic teams at both elementary schools. Steve also worked with state high school competitions as a judge and moderator. After retiring from the school system, Steve worked as a delivery driver for Carlsted’s Florist, a house and pet sitter and drove several couples to their winter homes in Florida and out west. Steve was an avid bowler, winning many bowling tournaments and leagues. Steve also loved attending plays in New York every year and was a season ticket holder with Lexington Theatre. He was a longtime member of Bethel Church and attended Shannon United Methodist Church.
In addition to his mother Mary Ethel and his father Dewey, Steve was preceded in death by his cousin, Charlene Dillon.
Those left here to carry on his loving legacy are his special cousin and friend, Linda Berry Dearinger and her husband Steve of Maysville, along with many loving cousins, and extended family and friends.
A celebration of Steve's life will be held Monday, July 20, 2026, at Palmer Funeral Home beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Mike McArter officiating.
Steve will be laid to rest in Shannon Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to the hour of service at Palmer located 5043 Main Street in May's Lick.
In place of flowers please consider a donation in memory of Steve to the Mason County Animal Shelter (301 River Drive, Maysville KY 41056) and Bethel United Methodist Church (4300 KY 596, May's Lick KY 41055).
