Verna N. Stitt May, 84, of Maysville went to be with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 23, 2014.
Mrs. May was born in Robertson County on September 21, 1929 daughter of the late William & Lucy Hitt Stitt.  She was preceded in death by her husband Emmitt Gene May and two sons, Denny & Phillip May; 1 brother, Thomas "Buck" Stitt and 8 sisters, Emma Duble, Delores Purcell, Margaret Ellison, Thelma Gallagher, Ida Dotson, Audrey Fulton, Marcella Huddleston and Ruby Hurst.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Vicki (Ray) Barbee of Circleville, OH, Angela (Jack) Shannon of May's Lick; 3 sons, Michael F. May and Christopher (Missy) May of Maysville and Mark (Chrystal) May of West Union, OH.  8 grandchildren, Jamie (Andrea) Barbee, LaJeannia (Brian) Eyerman, Jason Barbee, Nathan (Amber) May, Jack Shannon, Jr., Josh (Rosanna) Shannon, Jennica Shannon, Trent (Christina) May and 11 great grandchildren and a brother Paul Stitt of May's Lick.
She was a longtime member of the Sardis Assembly of God Church.  She sang in the church, taught Sunday School Classes and at times preached at the service.  She was a God fearing woman that loved the Lord with her whole being.  She won many a soul to Christ through her witnessing to everyone.  She was a wonderful mother that taught her children and grandchildren about Jesus.
Our hearts are heavy laden with sorrow, but we know she is in the sheltering arms of Jesus.  What a joyous reunion that was.
Services will be conducted at 1 P.M. Friday, Feb. 28, 2014 at May's Lick Lighthouse Church with Pastors Danny Howard and Kevin Clos officiating.  Interment will follow in the Shannon Cemetery. Pallbearers will be the grandsons and Billy , Dale, Duane, and Allan Stitt.  Visitation 6-9 Thursday at the church.  Palmer Funeral Home on May's Lick is serving the family.  Condolences to www.palmerfuneralhome.net
