Wayne R. Gifford, 77, well known farmer of the May's Lick and Sardis area passed away Friday, December 2, 2016 at Meadowview Regional Medical Center after a short illness.

Wayne was born in Mason County on January 10, 1939 son of the late Gilbert & Carrie Poe Gifford. He always met people with a smiling face and was very generous with his neighbors and friends and was an avid U.K. and Mason County Basketball fan.

Survivors include his wife of  58  years, Jeanine Doyle Gifford;  four children, Lisa (Ronnie) McConnell and Mark Gifford both of Mt. Olivet, Chris Gifford of Springfield, TN and Shawn (Amanda) Gifford of Sardis; six grandchildren, Ashley McConnell, Tyler McConnell, Brittany Gifford, Hannah Gifford, Laney Gifford and Brayden Gifford; a great-grand child Mallory Bocook;  three sisters, Cecil Fulton, Elsie Sweet and Sue Renzo.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Joe Gifford and a sister Alene Major.

Services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at May's Lick Baptist Church with Pastor Danny Howard and Dr. Michael Rice officiating.  Burial will follow in the Shannon Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Ronnie McConnell, Tyler McConnell, Jackie Mitchell, Phillip Doyle, Larry Doyle and Johnny Doyle.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Laura Gifford, Amanda Smoot, Gary Cracraft, Larry Fulton, Tommy Mitchell Kelly Jolley, Wayman Tilton, Jennifer Doyle and Willa Burton.  A visitation will be held 5-8 P.M.
