William Clarke McNeill passed away in Maysville Kentucky on September 17, 2025, surrounded by family.   Bill was a private, compassionate man who loved his family, his Maysville and Mason County Community, his land and properties, and always a good laugh.   No matter what life threw at Bill, he always gave maximum effort and energy.  He was born on 5/21/46 to the late John Worthy (Jack) and Margaret Clarke McNeill.   He had a brother, John Worthy (Stevie) McNeill, deceased; a sister Kathryn McNeill (Gary) Muse, deceased; and a sister Mary Lisa McNeill (Bob, dec) Muse, of Maysville.   Bill graduated from Maysville High School in 1964 and Centre College in Danville Kentucky, in 1968.   While at Centre, Bill was a member of Beta Theta Phi Fraternity.  An Army Veteran, Bill served in Vietnam in 1969/70, receiving a U.S. Army Bronze Star Medal for bravery.   After serving his country, Bill returned to Maysville, managing and growing the family business, McNeill Lumber Company and later, Kibler Lumber Company, until his retirement.

Bill is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sallie Carroll McNeill; a daughter Maggie (Craig) Denham; a son, Owen (Tina) McNeill; and one grandson Drew Denham.

In his younger days, Bill loved tennis and boating and his friends; later he loved mowing and landscaping his properties; the Cincinnati Bengals; and the University of Kentucky Basketball and Football teams.   He was a long-time board member of The Security Bank & Trust, Hayswood Foundation, one of the first CASA Volunteers, a dedicated member of the First Presbyterian Church of Maysville, serving two terms as Deacon; a long-term volunteer at the Mason County Detention Center; a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge; a former member of The Maysville Rotary Club; a 28-year Friend of Bill W; and enjoyed the meetings of the Maysville Men's Club once a month.   He particularly enjoyed his friends and the employees of Sprinkles of Hope, establishing his "Sprinkle's Hope Lunch Table" over a decade ago.

Other survivors include niece Barbara (Paul) Johanson of Sweden; Laura McNeill (Paul) Hillenmeyer; Elizabeth Scott (Rob) Robertson; Sarah Scott; Kathryn Muse; and nephews Rick (Monica) Buckly; Andrew (Jesse) McNeill; and Jack Muse.   Also, a sister and brother-in-law Betsy and Ken Scott of Danville, Kentucky.
