William Rees Clarke, Sr. 90, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Meadowview Regional Medical Center . He resided on the Mel-O-Ree farm at May's Lick and was past President and Chairman of the Board of the Security Bank and Trust in Maysville. He was a member of First Christian Church in Maysville and was a farmer and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WW 11. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Bill was born in May's Lick on September 9, 1923 son of the late William D. and Lucille Rees Clarke.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years Jean Meloy Clarke. Two sons William R. (Vicki) Clarke, Jr. of Maysville and Donald Meloy Clarke of Lexington; two grandchildren, Cameron (Brian) Nurick and William Rees Clarke III; and two great- grandsons Parker Clarke Nurick and Chase William Nurick. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Charles Allen Clarke.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Wednesday in the May's Lick Cemetery with the Rev. Wayne Barnett officiating. Active Pallbearers will be Rees Clarke and the Directors of the Security Bank. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Chamberlain and Jerry Schumacher. Military rites will be conducted by Simon Kenton Post #2734 VFW. There will be no visitation. Memorials suggested to Disabled American Veterans or First Christian Church in Maysville.
