CHARLES FOWLER Obituary

 

 Charles E. Fowler, 90, of Maysville passed away peacefully on January 16, 2020 at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe.

Mr. Fowler was born in Mason County on November 20, 1929 son of the late Wood L. & Mattie Doyle Fowler.  He served as Vice President and Director of Security Bank & Trust for 35 years.  He retired in 2018.  Prior to joining the Security Bank, he was Vice President and Director of the State National Bank (currently U.S. Bank).  Charles was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict as a Supply Sargent at Company 1, 4th Infantry Division stationed in Fairbank, Alaska.  He had been a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church since 1961 and a member of the DeKalb Lodge #12 IOOF in Maysville since March 14, 1978.  Recognitions he received from the Lodge were Odd Fellow of the Year 1992-1993, Grand Lodge of Kentucky Service Award 2000-2001 and the highest honor was the Meritorious Award in 2015. He was also Commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in 1983 under Governor John Y. Brown, Jr.

 Survivors include a daughter, Susan F. (Doug) Carlisle of Carrollton, KY; two grandchildren, Heather C.  (Josh) Yocum of Carrollton, Dr. Hilary C. (Scot) King, LaGrange, KY; two great-grandchildren, Ava Lane Yocum and Colin Wesley King.  Also, special friends and caregiver, Dona J. Grooms and caregiver Barbara Clarke.   He was preceded in death by his wife Wanda Gifford Fowler whose death occurred March 15, 2011.  The couple had been married for 61 years.  Also, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Josephine Dryden and Ruby Dryden.

Services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Monday, January 20, 2020 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Maysville with Rev. Jim Fant and Rev. James Rawlings officiating.  Burial will follow in the Shannon Cemetery.  Active Pallbearers will be Jerry Hafer, Gerald Orme, John Chamberlain, Mike Gifford, Jeff Dryden and David Craig. Honorary pallbearers will be Scotty Fulton and Duane Williams.  Visitation will be held from 4-7 P.M. Sunday at the church with Odd Fellow Rites conducted at 7 P.M.  Memorials suggested to Hospice of Hope or Trinity United Methodist Church.  Palmer Funeral Home & Crematory of May’s Lick is serving the family.  Condolences to www.palmerfuneralhome.net.
