Darlene Doyle Courtney, 73, of U.S. 62 Maysville, passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at the Hospice of Hope Care Center at Kenton Pointe after a brave and valiant battle with cancer. Born in May’s Lick, Kentucky on October 31, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Edna Dryden Doyle.
Darlene was a homemaker and devoted spouse of 40 years to her beloved late husband Jerry Courtney.
Darlene was a special person who loved spending time with family and friends. She was a “true blue” UK basketball fan. She also loved going to the Red Mile and having fun. Her favorite thing to do was going to her daughter and son-in-laws country music performances. She will be fondly remembered for always helping others, her smile, laughter, and humor. She was the life of the party!
Darlene is survived by her daughter, Brandi (Patrick) Feagan of Augusta, son, Jonathan (Melissa) Wise of Benton, and four grandchildren, Chase Mauricio, Kelsey, Jonathan and Jonah Wise, and one great-granddaughter, Scarlett Mauricio.
Also surviving are a sister, Jeanine Gifford of Sardis, and three brothers, Johnny, Larry (Debbie) and Phillip (Sharon) Doyle, all of May’s Lick. Several nieces and nephews who loved and admired her so much, and many other beloved family and friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 pm, on Saturday, September 9, at the May’s Lick Baptist Church with Brother Danny Howard officiating. Interment will follow in the May’s Lick Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Chase Mauricio, Patrick Feagan, Jonathan Wise, Johnny Doyle, Larry Doyle and Phillip Doyle. Honorary pallbearers are Chris Gifford, Archie Rose, Larry Courtney and Bill Courtney. A visitation will be held on Friday, from 5-8 pm at the Church.
Expressions of sympathy are suggested to Hospice of Hope (909 Kenton Station Drive, Maysville, KY). The Palmer Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the family. Condolences to www.palmerfuneralhome.net
