F.J. “Bear” Finn, 69 of Minerva passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe. He was born on August 20, 1949 in Maysville to the late Paul Joseph & Mary Jane Williams Finn.
Mr. Finn was a life-long member of the Minerva United Methodist Church, A Kentucky Colonel, and retired from Dayton Power & Light after 33 years of service. Bear served as a Mason County Commissioner for 17 years, and as an officer in the Kentucky Magistrates and Commissioners association, including being elected to president of the association in 2002. In 2004 Bear reached another milestone in his public service career when he was elected as president of the Kentucky Association of Counties. Always active, Bear enjoyed Farming, playing softball and in his later years golf.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a son, Phillip G. Finn.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Dawn Cooper Finn, his daughter, Chanda (Michael) Lester of Wilder, his son, Paul J. Finn (Alex Johnston) of Latonia, his grandchildren Micah & Tanner Lester, Kyla, Tristan & Knox Finn, and Riley & Kenlee Finn.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1 PM on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at the Minerva United Methodist Church with Pastor Joyce Haug officiating. Interment will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 – 8 PM on Friday at the Church. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy are suggested to the Hospice of Hope (909 Kenton Station Drive, Maysville, Kentucky 41056) and/or the Minerva United Methodist Church ( C/O Lloyd Schiltz, 31078 KY 435, Dover, KY 41034) .
