John J. “Jack” Collins, 94, of May’s Lick passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Meadowview Regional Medical Center. He was a retired farmer-landowner, Jack was a member of the Mason County Farm Bureau, a charter member of the May’s Lick Lions Club where he was an avid euchre player. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was commissioned a Kentucky Colonel. He was a lifelong member of St. Rose of Lima Church.
Mr. Collins was born in Helena on August 28,1929 son of the late Henry S. and Mae Manion Collins.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Phoebe Whaley Collins, a son Joe (Lori) Collins and a daughter Joni Aylor; a grandson Travis (Keeley) Collins; two great granddaughters Paisley and Emma Collins and a brother Paul (Pat) Collins of Florence and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and an uncle, Lawrence “Buddy” Manion; two sisters, Eddie Gallenstein and Annelle Weber; three brothers, Henry S. “Red” Collins, Jr., J.T. Collins, and Gene Collins.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at St. Rose of Lima Church with Rev. Phil DeVous celebrating. Interment will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers memorials suggested to St. Rose of Lima Church, 211 Mt.
