Richard Lee “Dickie” Kirk, 87, passed on October 24th, 2023, at home around the comfort of his family. He was born on August 27th, 1936, in Mays Lick, the son of James Newell Kirk and Frances Decembly Guinn. He was a wellknown employee of Clyde's Super Value in the Catering Department.
Dickie graduated from John G. Fee High School, where he served as President of his Senior Class. Some of the things that he enjoyed the most was spending time with family, working in the yard, and attending church. Dickie had many titles in his life, but his favorite roles were being a husband, father, and grandfather. He loved nothing more than spending quality time with his wife of 66 years, Virginia “Jenny”. When it came to his children, he was always there for them regardless of the situation. He always knew the right thing to say just at the right time. He will be remembered for his big smile and his helping heart. He never met a stranger, and he always left an enormous impression on whoever he met.
Dickie attended Second Baptist Church in Mays Lick, Ky where he grew up. Dickie and Jenny felt very committed to this church due to the comfort and support that was provided by Reverend Bennett and the members of Second Baptist. What they enjoyed the most was the fellowship events with other churches in the surrounding areas and sharing their love for the Lord.
Dickie is predeceased by parents and a son, Dane Kirk; two brothers, John Edward Kirk, Sr. and Austin Guinn; two sisters, Virginia Bailey and Joan McDonald; and a grandchild, Meghan Gallagher. Surviving him are his wife Virginia Kirk and his two sons Barry and Lath; a brother James Samuel Lofton ; and a sister, Brenda Johnson; seven grandchildren, Tierra, Dorian, Hope, Carlina, Rya, Justyce, and Phoenixx.
Services will be conducted at 1 P.M. Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Second Baptist Church in May’s Lick with Rev, L. Rodney Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Acres Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Palmer Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the family. Condolences to www.palmerfuneralhome.net
