Ruth Allison Cromer Richards 97, passed away on March 12,2022 in Brandon, FL. Ruth was born in May’s Lick on April 8,1924 daughter of the late Wesley Lee & Ida Buchanan Allison. She was a graduate of May’s Lick High School and Georgetown College with a degree in education. Ruth taught elementary school in Aberdeen and Cincinnati, OH and later she became a realtor for West Shell Realty in Cincinnati until her retirement and relocating to Cape Coral, FL in 2002. She was twice married first to the father of her children Richard C. “Dick” Cromer and after his death in 1998 to Dr. Edward R. Richards. She was a member of the New Hope Presbyterian Church in Ft. Myers, FL and enjoyed quilting, traveling, playing the piano and rummy. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend and was proud to be named a Kentucky Colonel.
Survivors include a daughter Suzan R. Cromer Barkley of Valrico, FL and a son Phillip R. Cromer of Temple, GA; two grandchildren Samuel C. Barkley IV and Allison Barkley. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Richard C. “Dick” Cromer and Dr. Edward R. Richards; three sisters, Catherine Mains, Etta Mae Moneyhon and Alene Allison; five brothers, Rutherford Lee Allison, Rev. Archie Allison, Elmer Allison, Charles E. Allison and John Allison.
Graveside rites will be conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, April 8,2022 in the May’s Lick Cemetery by Rev. James V. Dougans pastor of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will follow.
