"Bill' Comer
March 13, 1929 – April 12, 2025
William Thomas Comer, 96, of May's Lick, Ky., passed away April 12, 2025, at Hospice of Hope Care Center in Maysville, Ky.
He was born March 13, 1929, the son of George and Margaret Welsh Comer of May's Lick. He was a 1947 graduate of May's Lick High School.
Comer was a longtime farmer. He raised tobacco, corn, hay, cattle and sheep on his May's Lick farm, which he took over in 1953.
He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea immediately following the Korean War.
Comer was a passionate supporter of agriculture, serving as president of Mason County Farm Bureau from 1973 to 1975. He was president of the Kentucky Burley Farmers Advisory Council in 1992.
He was a lifelong parishioner at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church in May's Lick.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Joan Murphy Comer in 2023, and his beloved son Harold Lee Comer in 1996.
He is survived by daughter Louise Gladstone of Lexington, Ky.; son George Comer of Placentia, Calif., his wife Kitty, their children Kristen and Andrew, and William's great-grandchildren Reece and Remi; son Greg Comer of Hartford, Ky., his wife Kay, their children Chris, Laura and David, and Willam's great-grandchildren Mack, Myles, Tyke, Kynze and Rowan; daughter-in-law Antonia Comer of May's Lick, Ky., her son Kenton and his wife MaKayla, and William's great-grandson Kenley; son Patrick Comer of Camby, Ind., his wife Julie, their children Bryan, Max and Anna; son Charles Comer of Mount Sterling, Ky., his wife Glenda, their son Kiernan; son Matthew Comer of Maysville, Ky., his wife Eleanor, their children Faith and Hope; son Nick Comer of Winchester, Ky., his wife Leanna, their children Clay and Emmie; numerous nieces and nephews; and sister Julia Mae Schoch of Coldwater, Ohio.
Mass of Christian Burial for William T. Comer will be held Tuesday, April 15 at 11 a.m. at Saint Rose of Lima Church in May's Lick with Rev. Michael Comer and Rev. Phil Devous co-celebrating. Burial will follow in Saint Patrick's Cemetery in Maysville. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m.on Monday, April 14 at Palmer Funeral Home & Crematory in May's Lick with prayers for the deceased at 7:30 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church, the William T. & Joan Comer 4-H Family Scholarship fund, 212 Scovell Hall, Lexington, KY 40546, or Hospice of Hope.
